At A Glance: '19 Mid-Ohio Hoosier Super Tour

Storylines/Things to Watch:

Racing into Summer -- Nearly 230 entries are expected this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour. Whether it’s the Runoffs, a Hoosier Super Tour or Regional event, that venue has produced tons of great SCCA racing over the years. A few classes to keep an eye on this weekend include Spec Miata with 30 entries, and Spec Racer Ford Gen3 with 27 competitors. Super Touring® Lite and GT-2 should be interesting, too, with 14 entries in each class. There are also nearly a dozen entries in H Production, Touring 1 and Formula Vee this weekend.

Course Correction -- Originally, this weekend’s Hoosier Super Tour event was to take place on Mid-Ohio’s 2.4-mile, 15-turn Club Circuit that includes the chicane leading into the “Keyhole” portion of the track. However, an ARX Americas Rallycross event is scheduled to take place at Mid-Ohio the weekend after Hoosier Super Tour activities, and work is currently being conducted within the chicane for the rallycross visit. So, SCCA racers this weekend will be attacking Mid-Ohio’s 2.258-mile, 13-turn Pro Circuit instead, sans chicane. Will drivers be up to the challenge? We’ll soon find out.

Wonderful Workers -- A huge event such as the Hoosier Super Tour simply couldn’t happen without a cadre of volunteers that pull together as a team to make SCCA events possible. Nearly 100 volunteers will be on hand at Mid-Ohio this weekend. These people organize, register, score, officiate and work flag stations during race weekends. No event is possible without the help of these selfless volunteers. So, once again, we say “THANK YOU, WORKERS!”

Want to Watch? -- Enjoying a day of racing trackside at Mid-Ohio is simply the best. For those that love motorsports, or just like being outside in a park-like setting, this weekend’s Hoosier Super Tour event is open to the public and ticket prices are only $10 per person. Could be wet at times, so don’t forget the rain gear. But in the past, rain has just made for some really interesting racing. If you can’t make it to the track, follow along with live timing/scoring, video, Super Tour Radio presented by Hoosier Racing Tire and more at www.scca.com/live.
