At A Glance: '19 Buttonwillow Hoosier Super Tour

Storylines/Things to Watch:

Counting Cars -- Nearly 150 entries are expected this weekend at Buttonwillow Raceway Park for the Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour. That includes around two-dozen entries in both the Spec Racer Ford Gen3 and Spec Miata races, as well as just over a dozen competitors in Super Touring® Lite and Formula Continental®. But on a track like Buttonwillow, exciting races can pop up anytime across all the classes.

Hoosier Super Tour Midpoint -- The April 26-28 Hoosier Super Tour event at Buttonwillow Raceway Park marks the series’ midpoint in a 22-race season.  The weekend in Buttonwillow, California also marks the first of three West Coast events planned in 2019, the second being May 18-19 at Portland International Raceway in Oregon, and third taking place July 26-28 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Salinas, California.

Track Configuration – Buttonwillow Raceway Park is one of the premier road racing and testing facilities in the United States. The track itself offers over 40 different configurations and can be run in a counterclockwise or clockwise direction. The West and East loops can be run simultaneously, allowing two separate events to take place at the same time. When the two loops are combined, the main track is 3.1-miles long.  Again, during this year’s Hoosier Super Tour stop, competitors will be facing the 3.02-mile, No. 25A clockwise circuit layout.

Spectating – With the previous two Hoosier Super Tour events taking place in “mixed” weather conditions, a sunny and dry weekend in Central California will be welcomed. Temperatures could reach the 90s at times, and there is practically no chance of precipitation. It will be a great weekend to get out and watch some racing trackside, and that can be done for free at Buttonwillow Raceway Park as this weekend’s event is open to spectators at no charge. If you can’t make it to the track, follow along with live timing/scoring, video, Super Tour Radio presented by Hoosier Racing Tire and more at www.scca.com/live.
