At A Glance: '18 Buttonwillow Hoosier Super Tour

Storylines/Things to Watch:
Second Half of Season -- The April 27-29 event at Buttonwillow Raceway Park begins the second half of the 10-event Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour season.  The race in Buttonwillow, California, also marks the first of two West Coast events, the second being May 19-20 at Portland International Raceway in Oregon. Follow all the action at www.scca.com/live with live timing/scoring, trackside video cameras and Super Tour Radio presented by Hoosier Racing Tire.

Buttonwillow Classes to Watch – With the 2018 Runoffs taking place at Sonoma Raceway, a West Coast track, expect to see a lot of drivers getting in their required races at Buttonwillow and Portland to meet qualification criteria for this year’s National Championship.  At Buttonwillow, a couple classes sporting large fields include Spec Racer Ford Gen3, Spec Miata, Prototype 2, Formula Continental, H Production, Formula Vee, Super Touring® Lite, Formula Atlantic and Formula Mazda.

Track Configuration – Buttonwillow Raceway Park is one of the premier road racing and testing facilities in the United States. The track itself offers over 40 different configurations and can be run in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. The East and West loops can be run simultaneously allowing two separate events to take place at the same time. When the East and West loop are combined, the main track is 3.1-miles long.  For this year’s Hoosier Super Tour stop, competitors will face the 2.92-mile, clockwise circuit No. 25 layout.

Spring in California -- Mother Nature has played a part in the last two Hoosier Super Tour events, with flurries at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit and an impending storm at VIRginia International Raceway. The weather forecast for Buttonwillow Raceway Park, however, looks to be glorious with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s, and nothing but sunshine predicted. Admission is free for spectators who want to come out to Buttonwillow for the weekend, so plan to be there and catch all the racing live and in person.
