At A Glance: '18 VIR Hoosier Super Tour

Storylines/Things to Watch:

No Rest for Racers -- It has been less than a week since the Hoosier Super Tour wrapped up festivities at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Oklahoma.  Now it’s time to get things cranking again April 13-15 on the 3.27-mile, 18-turn VIRginia International Raceway.  Weekend activities at VIR mark the midway point of Hoosier Super Tour’s 10-race 2018 season.

VIR Classes – There are usually pretty stout fields for SCCA events at VIR, and this year is no different with more than 300 entries.  As usual, you won’t want to miss the Spec Miata race with nearly 50 cars, or the Spec Racer Ford Gen3 event featuring nearly 55 entrants.  The Touring 1, Touring 2, Touring 4, GT2, Super Touring® Lite, Super Touring® Under, F Production, Formula Enterprises, Formula F and Formula Vee® races also have good-sized fields that will likely put on one heck of a show.

Say High to the Helpers – The largest single group entry for the Hoosier Super Tour weekend at VIR goes to the nearly 170 SCCA members who have signed up as volunteers. SCCA is a membership organization and, as such, utilizes volunteers to put on events. These people organize, register, score, officiate and work flag stations during race weekends.  No event is possible without the help of selfless volunteers.

Ya Gotta Be There -- The Hoosier Super Tour visit to VIR is open to spectators. Three-day tickets are $25 in advance or $35 at the gate.  Two-day tickets are $15 in advance or $25 dollars at the gate.  Single-day tickets for Saturday or Sunday are $10 in advance or $20 at the gate. Children 16 years old and younger are free with a paying adult. Advance tickets can be purchased at VIRNow.com. For those who can’t get to the track, follow all the action at www.scca.com/live with live timing/scoring, trackside video cameras and Super Tour Radio presented by Hoosier Racing Tire.
