Let’s celebrate milestone SCCA® anniversaries for the month of February! That means below you’ll find a listing of Club members celebrating 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, and 70 years of #funwithcars with the Sports Car Club of America™. Making it to the quarter century mark for membership is no small feat, but if you scroll all the way to the bottom, you’ll discover two members have logged 70 years with the SCCA. That means they joined the Club in 1956 and never looked back.

Then if you look through the other years, you’ll be even more amazed.

When Andrew Nielsen and Paul Reddix joined in February 1956, they were two of about 7,000 SCCA members. Today, the Club is comprised of roughly 50,000 annual members and another 20,000 weekend members. Let’s put it another way: In February 1956, a young and enthusiastic Augie Pabst was only thinking about going racing – that wouldn’t happen until May of that year. If you don’t know, Pabst was a bit of a character, eventually being inducted into the SCCA Hall of Fame in 2018. His Hall of Fame profile is worth a read.

But I digress.

Mr. Nielsen and Mr. Reddix joined five years before Bob Tullius did – Tullius becoming an SCCA member 65 years ago this month. In many ways, Tullius and his Group 44 Inc. team set the standard for modern team owners – something that, along with his racing success, earned him a spot in SCCA’s Hall of Fame in 2015.

Speaking of the SCCA Hall of Fame, Rocky Entriken Jr. joined the SCCA in February 1971, 55 years ago. Soon thereafter, he would report on the inaugural Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships, singlehandedly writing the official un-official record book of the Solo Nationals – that solidified his place in the SCCA Hall of Fame, being inducted in 2023, the same year he was presented with the Woolf Barnato Award.

Want to know something else? 50 years ago this month, Cat Kizer joined the SCCA. Her story is a wild one that can be read here. And as the text on that link begins: “Catherine Kizer made her way to the SCCA Hall of Fame the hard way – she earned it.” She was inducted into the SCCA Hall of Fame in 2020.

Do you know who joined the SCCA 45 years ago in February? Peter Cunningham. His success behind the wheel and as the owner of RealTime Racing earned him a spot in the SCCA Hall of Fame in 2018.

There are most definitely others who are celebrating a milestone Club anniversary this month (like the son of SCCA Hall of Famer Augie Pabst, who joined in February 1991), so all of this is to say that if you also joined the SCCA in February, you apparently picked a great month to do so.
