Mid-year Club Update from the President

(This “From the President” article, from SCCA® President and CEO Mike Cobb, appears quarterly on SCCA.com.)

As we head into the second half of the year, I'm excited about where the Club is going.

Across the country, our members and volunteers are doing what they do best – hosting events, welcoming newcomers, and creating incredible experiences for fellow enthusiasts. Every weekend, dozens of SCCA® events bring our community together, and it's the dedication of our volunteers that makes every gathering possible. That's something I never take for granted.

Like many of our Regions, the SCCA National office has faced some of the same realities this year. Participation varies from market to market, budgets require thoughtful decisions, and volunteer organizations everywhere are competing for people's time. Those challenges are real. But despite them, I believe SCCA has real momentum – and that's because of our members, our volunteers, and the investments we're making together.

One thing that continues to encourage me is that people are still discovering SCCA and returning to the Club. Even in a challenging environment, we're welcoming new members, reconnecting with former members, and introducing more enthusiasts to what makes this organization special. That's a great reminder that what we offer continues to resonate with people who love motorsports.

One of the most important investments we're making in the future of the Club is the new scca.com, which is slated to launch this year.

Whether you've been an SCCA member for 40 years or you're discovering us for the very first time, our website should make it easy to find information, get involved, and participate. That's exactly what we're building. The new platform will better serve you, make it easier for future members to discover everything SCCA has to offer, and give Regions access to professional, easy-to-manage websites that reduce the burden on local volunteers. Three pilot Regions are already on board to help us test and refine the shared platform, and their feedback will help ensure we build something that works for Regions of every size.

Supporting our volunteers remains one of my highest priorities. Whether it's improving communication, providing better tools and resources, or finding new ways to support Region leadership, our goal is simple: help volunteers spend less time wrestling with administrative challenges and more time creating incredible experiences for members.

Another milestone worth celebrating is our newest partnership. Last week, we announced Mission Foods as the title sponsor of the 2026 SCCA National Championship Runoffs®. I couldn't be more excited to welcome Mission Foods to the SCCA family. This partnership is an important milestone for our Club and reflects the strength of what we've built together. Companies don't make investments like this unless they believe in the organization, the events, and – most importantly – the people behind them. I'm grateful to the Mission Foods team for believing in SCCA, and I truly believe this is just the beginning of what we'll accomplish together.

Every one of our programs has something exciting happening right now, and that's a great place for us to be.

Track Night in America® Driven by Tire Rack continues to introduce thousands of enthusiasts to motorsports each year, and it's exciting to see so many drivers taking that first step onto a racetrack. Watching people discover a passion for performance driving – and then continue exploring everything else SCCA has to offer – is exactly what the program was designed to do.

As we move into championship season, we'll once again welcome roughly 1,300 competitors to the Tire Rack SCCA Solo® National Championships in Lincoln, NE. As one of the largest amateur motorsports championships in the country, it's a signature event on SCCA’s calendar and a tremendous showcase for what makes the Sports Car Club of America™ special. We're expecting another outstanding event, and this year's video game theme will bring a fun new energy to an already incredible week of competition. I look forward to seeing Lincoln filled with familiar faces once again.

SCCA’s Time Trials program continues to gain momentum, and this year marks a defining milestone for the program as we crown SCCA Time Attack National Champions for the very first time. Eagles Canyon Raceway will provide the stage for that historic moment, and I'm looking forward to seeing competitors become the first names etched into a brand-new chapter of SCCA history.

The RallyCross National Championship Presented by Bingham Equipment Company heads to Arizona for the first time, giving competitors a brand-new venue in which to compete for National Championships. Participation continues to grow, and I appreciate the tremendous effort the organizing team has put into making this year's event a success. Later in the season, RoadRally competitors will gather in St. Louis for the United States RoadRally Championship®, where this year's event will celebrate the Route 66 Centennial while showcasing one of the most unique traditions in our Club.

And, of course, we'll crown 24 new SCCA National Champions at Road America with the 2026 Mission Foods SCCA National Championship Runoffs®. Between the excitement surrounding our new title partner, another Track Night in America event kicking off Runoffs Week, and the opportunity to watch the nation's best drivers compete for National Championships, it's shaping up to be an unforgettable celebration of everything that makes SCCA special.

These events represent the very best of our Club. They showcase extraordinary competition, but they also remind us that none of it happens without dedicated volunteers, committed Region leaders, supportive partners, and members who continue to invest their time and passion into SCCA.

We have a lot to look forward to in the months ahead. The momentum we're building – from stronger partnerships and exciting championship events to investments in our Regions, technology, and the member experience – is only possible because of members like you. Thank you for being part of that momentum. I can't wait to see where it takes us next.
