At A Glance: '18 Sebring Hoosier Super Tour

Storylines/Things to Watch:

First Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour Weekend of 2018 – The very first Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour event of 2018 takes place January 12-14 at the historic Sebring International Raceway.  The premier U.S. amateur road racing series, Hoosier SCCA Super Tour is comprised of an exciting, 10-weekend schedule that brings together top SCCA competitors from throughout the country.  Visiting some of the greatest tracks in North America, each weekend consists of two races for each of 28 car classes.  From GT cars to production vehicles, formula cars to prototypes, the Hoosier Super Tour packs a ton of great action into each and every weekend.  Follow all the action with live static cameras and Super Tour Radio presented by Hoosier Racing Tire at www.scca.com/live.

Strong Showing to Start Season -- With more than 300 entries, the Hoosier Super Tour is off to another strong start at Sebring International Raceway.  Across the 28 classes, the names of several SCCA National Championship Runoffs® winners can be found on the entry list along with a bunch of top-notch competitors.  Many of the drivers this weekend also competed last weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the first U.S. Majors Tour® event of the year, taking the opportunity to log two race weekends back-to-back in Florida on the way to fulfilling SCCA National Championship Runoffs qualification criteria to participate at Sonoma Raceway in late October.

Classes and Groups to Watch -- Group 2 this weekend, featuring Spec Miatas, has more than 65 entries -- meaning that will be one humdinger of a group to watch.  Group 1, featuring the Spec Racer® Ford Gen3 class, will also be exciting with 50 racecars in that field.  There’s also a healthy dose of Formula F and Formula Vee vessels, as well as a strong contingent of ground-pounding GT-1 and GT-2 cars.

Winter Racing – While much of the country is thawing out from ridiculously cold winter weather, temperatures look to be in the 60s and 70s for most of the weekend in Sebring.  A chance of rain is in the forecast, but that’s standard for Florida.  At least it isn’t snow or sleet.  Admission is FREE for spectators, so round up the family, grab a picnic lunch, and get to Sebring International Raceway to catch all the action in person.
