BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour Gets Outstanding Early Reviews

TOPEKA, Kan. (March 11, 2011) €“ With the inaugural BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour event from Texas World Speedway now in the books, the early returns on the series show that the six-race season of enhanced Sports Car Club of America Club Racing events are a resounding success for the racers, the volunteers and the host region. The Texas World Speedway event, held March 4-6 as part of the annual Texas Two Step double National hosted by the Lone Star Region, was the debut of the new series. Six races on the SafeRacer SCCA National Racing Series are selected to be a part of the inaugural season, with nine events €“ one in each SCCA Division €“ to be a part of the 2012 schedule. €œWe€™ve heard nothing but positive reviews for the first BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour event from Texas World Speedway,€ SCCA President and CEO Jeff Dahnert said. €œThe efforts of the Lone Star Region, BFGoodrich Tires, and the workers and competitors have set the bar for future Super Tour events to match. This first event achieved the results we were hoping for.€ During the BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour events, racers in all 28 National classes are treated to events not always included at National races, including victory laps, podium celebrations with champagne and a custom checkered flag that each winner takes home to commemorate his or her victory. Live timing is available throughout the weekend, and extra media coverage is given to the Super Tour events on SCCA.com, in SportsCar Magazine and through SCCA€™s media distribution network. Workers and volunteers, along with the drivers, are also treated to Saturday night€™s BFGoodrich Tires Participant Party. The Lone Star Region€™s party, following tradition, was held at the College Station Hilton and featured a Texas-style barbecue dinner. €œWow, what a way to kick off a racing season,€ said Gregg Matocha, Race Chairman, Lone Star Region SCCA. €œThe Lone Star Region was both excited and nervous about rolling out the first BFGoodrich Tires Super tour event and we wanted to make it a great one. Our concerns quickly faded with the help from both the BFGoodrich Tires folks and the National staff from SCCA. The event ran very smoothly. €œBFGoodrich Tires provided a great presence for the celebrations and our National staff did much of the work to make this event much more fun than we could have imagined in our wildest dreams. This is what every racer envisions and BFGoodrich Tires and our National staff made it a reality. Our hats are off to everyone who made this a hugely successful event.€ While the BFGoodrich Tire Super Tour offers support to the host Regions, the components included with the Super Tour are catered specifically to the racers themselves. €œIt€™s very cool of BFGoodrich Tires to support this tour and add a little extra to an event for us as racers, even for those of us who run different tires,€ Formula 500 winner C.J. McAbee said. €œVictory laps, podium pictures, champagne and live timing available on your computer or phone€”it was kind of like being at the Runoffs! I€™m looking forward to my next chance to be on the podium €“ the race at Hallett can€™t come soon enough.€ The next event on the BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour schedule is at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Jennings, Okla., April 3.
