The Tire Rack SCCA® Shootout might be a new name this year, but the game remains the same: Be awesome and have fun on the autocross course. With the St. Louis SCCA Shootout at St. Charles Family Arena in St. Charles, MO, coming up on May 2-4, 2025, there are so many chances to be awesome and have fun — but one reason alone will be enough for you to enter this particular event.
Before we get to that, what is the Tire Rack SCCA Shootout and who’s invited?
Fast and fun, SCCA Shootouts narrow down class offerings to keep the action hopping from first runs on Saturday through Sunday’s bracket competition and podium celebrations.
Which classes are welcome at the SCCA Shootout? Street Touring®, Classic American Muscle (CAM®), Xtreme Street, Club Spec Mustangs and MX-5s, and Solo® Spec Coupe (SSC) offer drivers heads-up competition — but it doesn’t end there. The Ladies Index, Street Index, and Race Tire Index offer (you guessed it) indexed competition to just about every other class in SCCA’s rulebook.
All classes compete on Saturday and Sunday, with a driver’s top time from each day being added together for their class results. Once Sunday’s class competition concludes, the heart-pounding Shootout competition begins, with every class at the St. Louis SCCA Shootout having a chance to qualify for the fast-paced bracket battles.
Off course, there are Friday’s barbecue and Saturday’s pasta dinners that are included as part of your entry fee. So — party in the paddock!
That sounds like a hell of a weekend, right? What could possibly make it any better? This is where the number one reason to attend the St. Louis Shootout comes in: Competitors at the St. Louis Tire Rack SCCA Shootout will receive priority registration for the season-ending Aug. 30 Lincoln Invitational — that event, it should be added, is expected to sell out.
Whether you’re looking to experience the thrill of Shootout competition during the Aug. 30 Lincoln Invitational or you’re itching to get more seat time on the Lincoln, NE, concrete prior to the Sept. 1-5, 2025, Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships, the May 2-4 St. Louis Tire Rack SCCA Shootout is the guaranteed way to get there.

When it comes to the 2025 Tire Rack SCCA® Time Attack Challenge, all eight events are must-attends — the one that’s urgent right now, however, is the May 3-4 weekend at Eagles Canyon Raceway. Located on the outskirts of Decatur, TX (which, itself, is a stone’s throw from Fort Worth), Eagles Canyon is one of those racetracks that flies under the radar, offering challenges that put even the most experienced drivers to the test.
To challenge Time Attack Challenge drivers even more, this two-day event will see on-track action run both clockwise and counterclockwise, with your score being a cumulatively timed affair. We’ve got some pro tips for those who dare take on this, er, challenge.
We’ll get to that in a minute. Right now, you’ll want to click the link below to get registered.

Going Both Ways
Not all racetracks can be run in both directions, but Eagles Canyon can — and that’s what’s going to happen during this Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge event. Drivers will take to the 2.7-mile, 15-turn circuit on Saturday running counter-clockwise, then on Sunday the clockwise course configuration will welcome all competitors.
Drivers will experience one practice session and three competition sessions each day, with their overall score being the combination of their fastest lap turned each day.
In other words, drive fast Saturday, drive fast Sunday and, if all goes well, you’ll celebrate on the KONI Podium come Sunday afternoon.
Worried about your experience level slowing other people’s roll? Don’t be! Everyone will be grouped by experience level and gridded based on lap times following the practice session, so whether your wheeling skills match those of Max Verstappen or Lance Stroll, there’s a run group for you.
Pro Tips
There are several secrets to success for a fantastic Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge weekend, and for the May 3-4 weekend at Eagles Canyon, know that the first tip gets you to the track a day early.
The facility’s gates open at 3:30 p.m. Central Time on May 2, with event check-in and tech running from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Settling in early sets a solid foundation for every driver regardless of whether you’re shooting for a track record or a personal best.
For those who can’t make it to the track on Friday, Saturday morning sees check-in and tech jump into action at 6:45 a.m., with the novice briefing taking place at 7:30 a.m. The all-driver briefing kicks off at 7:45 a.m. Note that those driver meetings occur both Saturday and Sunday.
Knowing where you’re going on track is important, so each day at 8 a.m., pace laps will be hosted before Group 1 hits the course 20 minutes later.
Plenty of in-car videos can be found on YouTube for Eagles Canyon, so while you’ll want to check those out, you won’t want to skip the interactive track map Eagles Canyon has on its website breaking the circuit down turn by turn.
Then if you’re looking for a place to stay at night? Try camping on site!
This Time Attack Challenge weekend will be a special one because competitors in Targa Texasland will be wrapping up their week of competition at Eagles Canyon. They’ll be vying not only for top spots in Targa Texasland, but they’ll also be competing in the weekend’s Time Attack Challenge.
Get Going!
Sounds amazing, right? And we didn’t even mention the track’s 2,200-foot back straight or 200 feet of elevation change. Serious fun!
Event registration wraps on May 2 at 7 p.m. CT, and the price of admission is just $500.
