Sports Car Club of America® has selected NCM Motorsports Park, located in Bowling Green, Kentucky, as the host venue of the annual Tire Rack SCCA® Time Trials Nationals for the next decade. The event is set to take place at the end of September annually and is expected to draw participants from all over the country.
When asked what this means for SCCA, Director of Marketing and Experiential Programs, Heyward Wagner, stated, “Being able to partner with NCM to host TT Nationals for the next decade gives us the foundation needed to build a strong and stable program. Between the first-class facilities, the challenge and versatility of the track and the staff’s dedication to delivering a ‘best of’ experience, NCM is a perfect fit for SCCA’s premier Time Trials event. The fact that this is a 10-year deal shows not only the commitment SCCA and NCM have to one another, but also the shared commitment to the sport.”
Mitch Wright, General Manager of NCM Motorsports Park, shared, “We are thrilled to be extending this phenomenal event as the host venue of Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals through 2028. This will be a pillar event for the NCM Motorsports Park and for the city of Bowling Green each year.”
NCM Motorsports Park is situated across from the National Corvette Museum with over 1.5-miles of Interstate 65 frontage making it one of the most centrally located and easily accessible driving facilities in the country. Founded in 2014, the Park has a 3.15-mile road course, an autocross paddock, Holley Control Tower, day and annual lease garages and a karting facility.
Tire Rack CAM Challenge Powered by SCCA® in 2019 will be a series of events around the country with champions crowned in all three Classic American Muscle (CAM) classes, plus an Overall CAM Challenge Series Champion determined during the 2019 Tire Rack SCCA Solo Nationals.
Points will be awarded at all seven scheduled events for 2019, with the CAM Challenge Championship Finale — conducted within the Tire Rack Solo Nationals — having weighted points 50 percent greater than the previous six regular-season events. Details on points will be released before the season’s start in March. However, competitors will score points in their best two CAM Challenge events plus points gathered at the Finale, all in a single class. CAM entries will continue as supplemental classes at the Solo Nationals Championship, but points will be tallied as part of the CAM Challenge Series.
March is when the CAM Challenge season begins with an event running in conjunction with the Tire Rack Charlotte Champ Tour at zMax Dragway. However, CAM class competition and the Challenge will run Friday and Saturday due to site restrictions on Sunday. Then it’s the Gulf States CAM Challenge in April, which will run alongside the ProSolo event at Grenada Municipal Airport in Mississippi.
The series’ next stop is out west later in April at Crows Landing, California, for a weekend running alongside the Crows Landing Champ Tour. Then it’s off to Mineral Wells Airport at the end of May for the third event, this one running in conjunction with the Texas ProSolo. Things then shift back to California again in June for an event running as part of the San Diego Match Tour.
The only stand-alone CAM Challenge event for 2019 takes place in August at Grissom Aeroplex in Indiana before September’s CAM Challenge Championship Finale contained within the Solo Nationals Championship at Lincoln Airpark.
