Many of you are enjoying the chance to play this year on nearly 20 real racecourses across the country thanks to Track Night in America. But we at the SCCA clubhouse can’t take all the credit for bringing this driving adventure to life. Honestly, none of this would’ve been possible without support from our partners, especially the fine folks at Tire Rack.

You like traversing a race circuit for only $150 on a weekday? Well, thank Tire Rack. They helped to make the events so inexpensive. In return, we hope you’d support Tire Rack in the future when fitting your car with some new rubber. And since you’re now a driving enthusiast that knows how to get on a racetrack with your everyday car, you’re gonna need some new tires every now and again. Just trust us on that nugget of knowledge.

Tire Rack is America’s largest independent tire tester, and the company makes it really easy to outfit your vehicle with new treads. Simply figure out what you need, and then visit TireRack.com to conduct some free research and learn more about your options. They carry inventory from more than 20 tire brands, have competitive prices, and can get your goodies to you in a day or two. To make life simple, you can have orders shipped directly to one of Tire Rack’s more than 8,000 independent “Recommended Installers” around the country. Then just drop off your car at that installer to get the new “kicks” affixed to your whip.

Don’t need tires? That’s OK because Tire Rack isn’t just about tires anymore. The company also carries nearly 60 wheel brands and lots of performance accessories, as well as everything from brakes and suspension components to auxiliary lighting and high-tech wiper blades. Plus, Tire Rack has people on hand during regular business hours to provide you the support needed to keep automobiles rolling right along.

Founded in 1979, Tire Rack has long been a valued partner of the Sports Car Club of America. This year marks Tire Rack’s 21st anniversary as the title sponsor of the SCCA National Solo program. Tire Rack is also the “Official Tire Retail Partner of the SCCA,” and supports the “Tire Rack SCCA Starting Line” program.

So when you get a chance, check out TireRack.com. They got LOTS of cool stuff. And when the need arises, give the company your business. Seriously, all the cool people are buying from Tire Rack. That’s right, we’re deploying peer pressure. Plus, it’s a nice way to say “thanks” to them for making SCCA Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack a reality.

With the Tire Rack SCCA Solo® National Championships Presented by Garmin VIRB still more than four weeks away, the 2015 event is within reach to set a new record as the largest motorsports competition in the world.

Following Tuesday’s early registration deadline, 1,240 drivers are currently registered for the Sept. 8-11 event in Lincoln, Nebraska, which would smash the current record of 1,157 entries from 2007 at Heartland Park Topeka.

The surge in participation correlates to the categories competing on street tires, namely in Street and Street Touring classes. SCCA Solo rules introduced supplemental classes for street tires in road car classes in 2012, then began a transition phase moving from Stock classes to the Street category. The purpose of this move was to create a more attractive rule set and make the move to street tires.

Street and Street Touring classes have blossomed under the new program. Drivers already entered in Street classes, which includes Super Street R, are 419 strong, up from 351 from 2014. The story is similar in the Street Touring® Category, which boasts 272 participants, an increase from the 242 last year.

All totaled, street tire classes account for 52 percent of the 2015 entries.

“The SCCA National Staff and the Solo Events Board (SEB) have worked for years to evolve the National Solo program through improved operations, first class facilities, enhanced communications, a relevant rules set and strong business partners – such as our title sponsor the Tire Rack and presenting sponsor Garmin VIRB – to make the SCCA’s autocross program accessible and worthwhile for our members,” Howard Duncan, Senior Director of Solo and Rally, said. “Reaching this new attendance threshold is validation that the program is meeting its goals. We appreciate the support of our members and business partners so we can continue to build on this success for an even better program and new attendance records in the future.”
