1. Review the sponsor’s program and their requirements.
    • Competitors must be registered in the program prior to competing. No awards will be paid if you do not follow all contingency procedures. It is the competitor’s responsibility to register properly and neatly apply decals.
  2. Register according to the sponsor’s requirements.
    • Contingency registration for Championship events is separate from National and Majors Tour registration.
  3. Get to the track and have fun!
  4. Once you have qualified for an award, you will submit a claim either to SCCA or to the sponsor directly depending on the program requirements within 30 days of the event.
    • Photos of your car displaying the decals will be required so don’t forget to take pictures of your car at the event you are submitting a claim for.
  5. SCCA or the sponsor will review your claim and submit your payout within 30 days of receipt.

Contingency programs are offered by manufacturers and industry partners as a way to reward racers for their participation and performance. In most cases, competitors simply need to register for the program and display the sponsor’s decals on their race car. Eligible finishers can then earn awards that may include cash payouts, certificates, discounts, or products. Depending on the program, competitors can earn valuable prizes without even standing on the podium.

In most cases, region social events can simply be promoted through the hosting region’s website and do not require a sanction. However, a sanction is required if the venue requests proof of insurance from the region. Sanctions are also required for region social karting events.

Eligible charity events receive a 50% reduction in event fees. This discount is available for Solo, RallyCross, and RoadRally events.

Regions may host as many charity events as they choose. However, only one charity event per program, per region, per calendar year is eligible for the discounted event fee. For example, a region may receive the discount for one Solo charity event and one RallyCross charity event in the same year, but additional charity events within those programs would be subject to standard event fees.

To qualify for the discount, the charity’s name and valid Tax ID number must be provided when the sanction request is submitted in MAP. A charity designation cannot be added after the event has taken place.

Navigate to the event in MAP and open the Event Details page. Click the Request a Change button at the top of the page, complete the form, and select Save to submit your change request to the SCCA Sanction Team.

After your sanction is approved, the Certificate of Insurance (COI) is typically issued and emailed directly from K&K within 5-7 business days. Review the COI carefully to ensure all information is accurate, then upload it to the event record in MAP. If any revisions are needed, contact the SCCA Sanction Department rather than K&K directly.

Region sanction permissions are managed by your Region Executive (RE). Contact your RE and ask them to verify that your Region Sanction Requester permissions are assigned correctly in MAP.

Many types of people autocross. Men, women, young and old are all found at events. Some may not own a racecar so they bring out their daily driver and some hard-core members will bring out vehicles set up specifically for autocross. There will be novices wanting that first experience and veteran road racers keeping their skills sharp. Family and friends compete together. Whoever it is that comes to events they all share a love for motorsports and most of all, the desire to have FUN!

No. Many SCCA programs allow you to participate using your own street-legal vehicle, while others provide opportunities to rent a race car through independent prep shops. Volunteering is another great way to become involved and experience motorsports without owning a competition vehicle.

Absolutely. Every SCCA event depends on volunteers to help make it happen. Opportunities include specialties such as Flagging & Communications, Grid, Registration, Timing & Scoring, Technical Inspection, Emergency Services, Race Administration, and many others.
