Attended the Oregon regional SCCA General Meeting Saturday night with good turnout. Lots of updates and discussions. One contentious issue is the upcoming co-sponsorship of the Rose Cup Races at Portland International Raceway. Friends of PIR (FOPIR) has been asked by the Rose Cup to manage the event this year and it was decided to make this a shared event event with Oregon region SCCA and Cascade Sports Car Club. Details: https://www.facebook.com/FOPIR/posts/10153379979868043 This is not an SCCA event, a Cascade event or any one groups event. What it is, is an opportunity to promote and market our wonderful facility to the citizens of Portland and bring more spectators out to enjoy our sport. The Rose Cup Races have seen a huge decline as the city virtually stopped marketing the event. Remember that PIR is a city park (the only one with a positive cash flow!) and being relevant is critical for long term survival. Please support FOPIR in it's efforts to make this year an extremely successful event and help ensure that we have a multi-use facility for years to come! - updated

About me:

I am a 30+ year Apple Specialist, Sales and Marketing professional and "Car Guy". My Dad had me pulling headbolts from my Grandma's Nash when I was 2 1/2 years old, bought me a GoCart at 6 and we bonded through working on his 35 Packard Super Eight in our garage. I started autocrossing the day I got my drivers license, my first Hill Climb a month later and the Hill Marshall at 18 yrs old. Helped transition the Sports Car Club of Montana to the SCCA when we needed national affiliation in order to obtain event insurance. Moved to Portland, OR in 2000, enjoyed spectating at PIR, joined FOPIR, Cascade, BMW and SCCA. Currently track my M3 a few times each year.
