The SCCA® National Championship Runoffs® has evolved into what is now commonly agreed to be America’s pinnacle of amateur motorsports. The winner-take-all event produces close, competitive racing and provides a glimpse at future road racing stars, with drivers coming from around the globe to battle for that elusive Runoffs gold medal and the right to spray Mazza sparkling wine from the top step of the podium.
Past winners include Bobby Rahal, Graham Rahal, Jimmy Vasser, Scott Sharp, Elliott Forbes-Robinson, Skip Barber, Boris Said, Michael Galati, Randy Pobst, Paul Newman, and more.
The Runoffs has been named by Car and Driver magazine as one of the Top 10 racing events in motorsports, Edmunds called the event “an institution,” and the event regularly makes it into USA Today's Readers’ Choice Award for Best Motorsports Race.
This year marks the 63rd Runoffs, and a return visit to Road America, where the historic race was held in 2009-'13, 2020, 2024, and 2025.
On Sept. 28-Oct. 4, 2026, hundreds of drivers will compete for National Championship medals in 24 classes with race coverage viewable in person as well as online via a professional race broadcast.
