Originally opened in 1957, VIR’s first official event was an SCCA race that attracted stars like Carroll Shelby, Carl Haas and Bob Holbert.  The track soon became a fixture on the SCCA circuit and a favorite among racers due to its high-speed straights, challenging turns and dramatic elevation changes. Since its rebirth in 2000, the historic track has emerged as a world-class road racing circuit hosting SCCA events, as well as top professional sports car and motorcycle racing series in America. Additionally, VIR will host the 2019 National Championship Runoffs®

Bob,  Thank you for this as, unfortunately not many including myself, knew this.  I will post this on our F600 Challenge Series website and FB page and my home region forum.  I do hope that SCCA HQ starts to promote your archival site every where on this website.  Have to get the word out to our members!  See you at VIR.   Jim

Need to archive all the race audio feeds in order to better market our club - this and much more comprehensive race reports, like I did for the F500's at Road Atlanta HST in the comments below the abbreviated race report on this site that repeatedly don't report the whole event . . . . . so sad as we apparently try to get rid of the "secret car club" moniker to no avail . . . .
