A Winning U.S. Majors Tour Season Begins with Reserving Your Car Number

Winning on the racetrack begins long before the green flag waves. From preparing the car to mapping out a season’s schedule, racers know that success takes more than a heavy right foot. The best pre-season plans include covering ALL the details, including one that might seem small but can make a big difference: choosing a race car number and ensuring it’s yours for the entire season to come.

For competitors planning to hit the track in the 2027 Summit Racing Equipment SCCA Road Racing season, now’s the time to get that piece of the puzzle sorted. Drivers participating in the Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour and U.S. Majors Tour® can reserve their numbers for the upcoming season, helping ensure one less thing to worry about when race weekend arrives.

Reserving a car number for one or more Conferences in the U.S. Majors Tour (which includes the Hoosier SCCA Super Tour) is not mandatory, but it does allow racers to rest easy knowing their car number should stay the same throughout the season.

How it Works

Those competing in any of the U.S. Majors Tour’s six Conferences (Southeast, Southern, Western, Northeast, Mid-States, and Northern) can choose to secure a single or two-digit car number for their Conference of choice. Racers who will be competing in multiple Conferences can reserve a three-digit car number beginning with the number “1,” reserving their car number in all six Conferences.

The numeral “1” can only be used by the current SCCA National Champion in each class.

Drivers with a 2026 U.S. Majors Tour series registration will have from Oct. 30, 2026, at 9 a.m. Central Time until Nov. 7, 2026, at 9 a.m. CT to reserve that same Conference number for 2027.

On Nov. 7, unreserved numbers will be released into the general pool, allowing others to reserve that number. This means that for those who are reserving a number for the first time, Nov. 7 is your date to know.

What it Costs

Number registration for a single U.S. Majors Tour Conference is $50, with a second Conference adding another $50 – car numbers that are available include 0 through 99, with “1” only available to defending National Champions.

Reserving your car number in all six Conferences costs $150 and requires that the number be three digits, beginning with a “1” (so 100 through 199).

Reserve Your Majors Number

The Fine Print

Reserving a car number in one, two, or all U.S. Majors Tour Conferences is not a guarantee that you will be able to use your car number at each event during the season. Number reservations must be made at least 14 days prior to event registration. Also, dual-Conference events with duplicate number requests will give the reserved number to the driver who registered for the event first.
