SCCA Runoffs Stands Tall Among America’s Racing Giants in this USA Today Poll

Running door-to-door with the biggest names in American motorsports isn’t for the faint of heart, but that’s exactly what the SCCA® National Championship Runoffs® continues to do.

Voting for the 2026 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Award for Best Motorsports Race has officially wrapped, and the results are in, with the Runoffs finishing an impressive sixth out of the 20 chosen contenders. That’s a result worth celebrating!

Thanks to the passion and dedication of SCCA members who voted (that’s YOU!), the Runoffs held its own against the most iconic events in the country. Landing in sixth puts the Runoffs right behind giants like the United States Grand Prix at COTA, the Indianapolis 500, and the Daytona 500 – those events define motorsports in America, so it’s an honor to finish on their heels.

Even more impressive? The Runoffs placed ahead of marquee events like the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Motul Petit Le Mans, and several other major races.

In recent years, the Runoffs has proven it belongs in this elite company. Back-to-back fourth-place finishes in 2024 and 2025 showed strong momentum, and this year’s result reinforces that the event is a consistent contender.

Anyone who has spent time in the Runoffs paddock as a racer, volunteer, crew, or fan understands why. The Runoffs is where championships are decided by inches, where every corner matters, and where drivers leave everything on track. It’s intense, emotional, and deeply competitive – everything a great motorsports event should be.

Most importantly, this result reflects the strength of the SCCA community. So, to everyone who voted and supported the Runoffs: thank you!

Also, you can experience the Runoffs in person! The 2026 SCCA National Championship Runoffs takes place Sept. 28-Oct. 4 at Road America in Plymouth, WI. Drivers can qualify via the Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour or U.S. Majors Tour®, with workers from across the country encouraged to volunteer at the event (worker and driver registration begins in July). Spectators are also welcome.
