Apparently finishing P4 isn’t enough for us. So here we are again, rolling to the grid once more to take another shot at a podium.

For the third straight year, the winner-take-all SCCA® National Championship Runoffs® has been nominated for the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Award for Best Motorsports Race. And if the last two years taught us anything, it’s that we run with very fast company.

In both 2024 and 2025, the Runoffs finished fourth in the reader-driven poll, going wheel-to-wheel with some of the biggest events in American motorsports. Across both years of voting, only a few events managed to stay ahead on the results sheet: Sick Week, the NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals, the Chili Bowl Nationals, the King of the Hammers, and (something that’s hard to beat) the juggernaut known as the Indianapolis 500. When you’re sharing the leaderboard with events that epic, a pair of P4s ain’t shabby.

Still, racers are racers, and racers know that if you’re close enough to see the podium, you’re close enough to plot your move.

Which brings us to this year.

The Runoffs is once again nominated for the 10Best award, and voting is open now through Monday, April 27, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Winners will be announced Wednesday, May 6. In other words: the green flag is waving, and it’s time to put some laps in.

Why should the Runoffs take the win? Well, if you’ve ever spent a week basking in the awesomeness of the Runoffs paddock, watched a championship decided in the final few feet, or seen a driver climb out of a race car with tears of joy, you already know the answer.
