Hoosier is an undeniable powerhouse in the SCCA®. Stroll through the paddock at any road race or autocross and you’ll see Hoosier-shod cars left and right. Beyond the company’s spec tire status in Spec Racer Ford Gen3, Spec Miata, and now Spec MX-5, Hoosier’s R and slick compounds are among the most popular tires around. The ubiquitous A7 and R7 tires are about to become less common, however, as Hoosier announced on Dec. 12, 2025, its new TrackAttack Race tire, bringing with it an A8 and R8 that will reportedly offer faster lap times than the previous generation tires.
The TrackAttack Race tire is the second offering in the company’s new lineup, the first being the TrackAttack Pro treaded 200 UTQG tire Hoosier announced in September 2024.
“Hoosier has traditionally named tires after compounds or internal codes, which wasn’t always easy for consumers to navigate. Our new family naming makes it easier to understand each product’s core purpose,” said Joerg Burfien, President & CEO of Hoosier Racing Tire. “TrackAttack is in our circuit product line and we expect that family to grow over time under the same core name. Last year we introduced the TrackAttack Pro, a streetable track tire suitable for highway use. Now we’re adding a pure competition option with the TrackAttack Race.”
The new A8 offers a medium compound providing ultimate race traction and performance; the R8 features a harder, higher heat-tolerant compound, offering consistency and durability. While these TrackAttack Race tires are DOT approved, with a UTQG rating of 40, Hoosier notes that they are not intended for highway use.
“The TrackAttack Race comes from years of focused refinement and real-world testing,” said Mike Edmiston, Head of R&D, Hoosier Racing Tire. “Each previous generation tire has taught us something new, and we’ve applied those lessons to deliver the consistency and performance that drivers demand. Ongoing feedback from customers and racers is a key part of that process and that continues to be imperative to our overall development process.”
Hoosier TrackAttack Race tires will be available in 51 sizes, ranging from 13- to 21-inch diameters, and will undoubtedly be seen in the paddock during the Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour.
Select sizes are already available through Hoosier distributors. Keep your eyes on HoosierTire.com for the latest information.
