Celebrating milestone SCCA® member anniversaries is an absolute joy. If you’ve been around the Club for any length of time, it’s truly worth perusing the article we publish each month that lists members who have achieved 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, and maybe even 75 years as a member of the Sports Car Club of America. You just might discover that the person you’ve been chatting to at the local autocross has been doing this waaaay longer than you thought. Oh, the stories they must have!

There are a multitude of members on the list below you might recognize. For one, there’s Continental Divide Region member Clay Turner who is celebrating 25 years with the Club. He’s accomplished much in that time, including being the current Area 8 representative on the SCCA Board of Directors. Celebrating 40 years is Atlanta Region’s Keith Grant, who has a pair of SCCA National Championship Runoffs® gold medals to his name, with seven other Runoffs podium finishes in his 23 Runoffs appearances – that’s nearly a 40% success rate on landing a Runoffs podium!

Reaching the 45-year mark in August is one of the Club’s favorite SCCA Hall of Famers, Randy Pobst. This Central Florida Region member’s racing resume is so long that there’s no way we can list everything, so we won’t try. TL;DR, he’s a Solo National Champion turned Runoffs National Champion turned Pro Racing Champion turned Solo National Champion again. In the recent past, he’s helped write a section of the GCR about safe passing as well as tackled Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. This year, he’s made an appearance at Goodwood Festival of Speed and plans to compete in next month’s Targa Newfoundland.

Then there are the real long-termers of this Club. Celebrating 65 years is R.B. Armitage, a member of Neohio Region who joined the Club in August 1960. Also with 65 years of SCCA membership under his belt is Central Florida Region’s Fred Fiala. Then topping the chart this month is Gary L. Morgan from Finger Lakes Region. He joined the SCCA some 70 years ago in 1955.
