RallyCross National Championship Heads to Alabama in 2024

The RallyCross National Championship – SCCA’s annual winner-take-all RallyCross event where National Champions are crowned each year – will head to Alabama in 2024. The event, scheduled to take place Oct. 18-20, 2024, at Hollytree Off Road Park in Hollytree, AL, will welcome RallyCrossers to the beautiful northern portion of the Yellowhammer State. Temperatures should be pleasant during the RallyCross National Championship’s stop, with the mercury traditionally reaching the upper 60s to mid-70s during that time of year. And the dirt at Hollytree Off Road Park? Oh, that will be primed for incredible RallyCross action.

SCCA® Tennessee Valley Region has been hosting its monthly RallyCross events at Hollytree Off Road Park as part of Huntsville RallyX for a decade, with the group utilizing a beautifully flat stretch of field that measures roughly 1,800 feet in length and 750 feet in width. The Huntsville RallyX group also recently acquired a motor grader that’s kept on site, making quick work of site maintenance.

“Selecting Hollytree for the next installment of the RallyCross National Championship was an easy choice,” said SCCA Director of Rally/Solo Rick Myers. “It’s not often you come across an area dedicated to the sport with committed members to grow the event and the program. The Huntsville group has the experience to host a large RallyCross event, and now having equipment onsite definitely made the venue stand out as a leading candidate for 2024.”

The 2024 RallyCross National Championship at Hollytree Off Road Park marks the 10th location for the event since its inaugural National Championship in 2007. Through the years, the RallyCross National Championship has been hosted four times in Indianola, IA, three times each in Fountain, CO (albeit at two different locations), Topeka, KS, and Tulsa, OK, and once in Hastings, NE, Lebanon, TN, Greenwood, NE, and Chillocothe, OH.

“Tennessee Valley Region is excited to host the RallyCross National Championship in 2024, and is planning to go all-out in order to make this event one to remember – in the best possible way,” said Tennessee Valley Region’s RallyCross Chair and multi-time RallyCross National Champion Leon Drake. “We have been using the site for over 10 years now and the surface is hard clay that is extremely stable. Hollytree Off Road Park has been an involved host and always supports us. Efforts to develop new courses just for this event are already underway, and improved drainage and surface preparation are in process. The road grader is a huge bonus in making quick work of these efforts.”

Hollytree Off Road Park is more than a plot of land for RallyCross events. In total, 800 acres of privately owned land make up the facility that’s located about a half hour’s drive from Huntsville. The location also features a concession stand, trails, rock crawling, and more, with Paint Rock River located roughly three miles away.

Camping (with some RV connections) is also available at Hollytree Off Road Park, which could be the option of choice for many competing at the 2024 RallyCross National Championship, since the bulk of the hotels are 30-40 minutes away in Huntsville and Scottsboro. That being a picturesque portion of the country, however, several houses in the vicinity are available for rent through services like Airbnb and Vrbo.

Those looking to get a step up on the competition should consider heading to one of the monthly Huntsville RallyX events at Hollytree Off Road Park.
