Runoffs Activity Calendar Shaping Up

The SCCA National Championship Runoffs are the pinnacle for many racers but also road racing’s annual gathering place to see friends from far and wide.

This year’s event is beginning to shape up – and one thing we can guarantee, it’s going to be fun for all.

Speaking of which, let’s get this out of the way. You can attend in one of three capacities – as a worker and volunteer, as a competitor (eligibility pending, of course), or as the purchaser of a ticket. Follow the appropriate links to each of those registration options!

Runoffs Member Advantage

The Runoffs can be hot, or cold, or wet, or all three – we all know this. As an SCCA member perk, it is possible to bypass all of that and watch the Runoffs in a 71-degree room with a view.

The SCCA Member Advantage includes a space in the SCCA suite overlooking pit lane and the start/finish line at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Inside, members will have televisions showing the race broadcast, complimentary non-alcoholic drinks including water, tea and soda, mid-morning and afternoon snacks, and, just maybe, some special swag. While alcoholic beverages aren’t available inside, the bar next to the nearby concession stand will be open during race days.

Tickets for the Member Advantage suite are limited and being sold on-site. Wristbands will be sold to only 80 members per day, and are available for $50 for all three race days, and $25 for each individual race day (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Purchases can be made at Driver Information on-site at IMS, and proof of valid membership is required.

SCCA Foundation Sweepstakes

Of course, two lucky people will be able to attend the Runoffs for free, including their travel!

We’ve plugged this before, but the SCCA Foundation sweepstakes guarantees a pair of travelers a VIP experience at the Runoffs. All the info is here, but the prize keeps growing!

Click here to get your tickets – only a few days remain to enter the sweepstakes, with the winner announced at Tire Rack Solo Nationals!

Golf Cart Parade For Lemons of Love and Riley Children’s Hospital

One of the most fun, most popular and most worthwhile activities is back in 2021 – the paddock Golf Cart Parade!

This is no typical parade, however. Teams, groups, regions, specialties and families decorate their golf cart with a theme, parading around the facility to raise money and awareness for Lemons of Love and Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.

The winner this year will receive a $500 Tire Rack Gift Certificate – but it’s a tough crew of judges. The judges are the people in attendance, who donate money to the cause. That’s right – the winner is the golf cart that raises the most money! Start planning now – some started working on their cart as soon as last year’s event ended!

The golf cart parade is on Wednesday, September 29, releasing from grid around 6:30 at the conclusion of the day’s on-track qualifying and drive down pit lane over the bricks, complete with announcers in the PA booth broadcasting through the facility. It will end near the Pagoda Plaza, just in time to visit the Block Party.

Runoffs Block Party

That’s right, the Block Party is back!

Groups, teams and regions are encouraged to setup a tent or location as a sort of “Open House” to encourage others to come hang out. This was very popular at VIR – some stops were more formal than others, but a good time was had by all.

So far, our friends at Hagerty, the New England Region, and the world-infamous Prod Party have agreed to anchor the event. More are coming!

Is your group interested in hosting a stop on the party circuit? Contact Heyward Wagner to save your location!

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum

There’s no excuse for a motorsports fan to spend multiple days at IMS and not visit a true crown jewel in motorsports history, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. The staff is ready and willing to welcome each and every SCCA member to one of the world’s premier motorsports collections. Be sure to take a journey through our current exhibits: “Rocket Rick Mears” and “Granatelli: Larger Than Life.”

The IMS Museum, located inside the 2.5-mile IMS oval, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) public charity, and relies on the support of visitors, our members, donors and corporate partners to create ever-changing programming, and to restore, maintain, and add to the spectacular vehicle collection. Included in that is an effort to build for a future that will simply “wow” guests passing through the doors. All credentialed and registered SCCA Runoff participants and officials will receive $5 off the normal Adult Museum admission on September 27 and 28, open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (ET) both days.
