TOPEKA, Kan. (Nov. 26, 2019) -- Sports Car Club of America® has released the schedule for the 2020 Tire Rack Championship Tour, “The Road to Lincoln.” The calendar consists of eight stops around the country, including one new event at a “destination” location. Champ Tour events generally take place over three days on two separate courses. The opening day consists of Test and Tune opportunities, as well as a social gathering. Then on the second day, competitors each get three chances to drive one course, and on the third day get three runs on another course.
South Georgia Motorsports Park in Cecil is where the 2020 season will commence in March with the Tire Rack Dixie Championship Tour, again accompanied by a great atmosphere and equally great BBQ. From there, the series heads west for a new event in Nevada at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. What will the Champ Tour experience be in Sin City? One will have to be there to find out.
April sees the series remain out west for the Tire Rack Crows Landing Champ Tour at the largest concrete Solo site on the west coast. Then it’s back east in May for the annual Spring Nationals Champ Tour at the Solo Nationals site in Lincoln, Nebraska. As usual, this will be a true pre-Nationals test as hundreds of competitors run courses on the same large, concrete pads used annually for Solo Nationals. The month of June then features one event, that being the Tire Rack Finger Lakes Champ Tour at Seneca Army Depot in Romulus -- a huge facility delivering challenging courses and fantastic scenery.
The series’ last three events of the year take place in July, opening with the Tire Rack Summer Nationals East Championship Tour at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee. That is followed immediately by the Tire Rack Summer Nationals West Championship Tour staged at the former Hampton Lumber Mills in Packwood, Washington, near beautiful Mt. Rainier. The 2020 season then comes to a close with the very popular Tire Rack Peru Champ Tour hosted at Grissom Aeroplex in Indiana.
