TOPEKA, Kan. (July 16, 2019) -- Driver and worker online registration will open at 10 a.m. Central on Wednesday, July 17, for the 2019 SCCA® National Championship Runoffs® taking place Oct. 8-13 at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) in Alton, Virginia. Below are a couple items of which people should be aware.
Competitors are advised to first log into their MotorsportReg account to make sure SCCA member numbers, license expiration date and vehicle profile information are all up to date in the system. This will save time and reduce frustration during the actual registration process.
Drivers will be able to sign up for four Test Days -- taking place Friday, Oct. 4 through Monday, Oct. 7 -- during event registration. If a test day group is sold out, competitors can be added to a waitlist by emailing runoffs@scca.com and should include their name, contact phone number, SCCA membership number, class and test day date preference. Also during registration, drivers can sign up for Official SCCA Runoffs Coaching Oct 4-7 at VIR with Speed Secrets’ Ross Bentley, IMSA driver Tom Long, and the VIR-based Kaizen Autosport coaching team. While the single-car paddock online reservation process does NOT begin until Wednesday, August 21 at 12 p.m. CDT, competitors will be asked during Runoffs registration to declare their paddock intention (Single-Car space, Prep Shop, Multi-Car Team or Manufacturer if offered). There will not be manufacturer tents this year, but space has been designated for Honda, Mazda and Toyota drivers. Space will be limited, but attempts will be made to accommodate as many requests as possible. Those who plan to paddock with a Prep Shop or Multi-Car Team should be sure to list the team name during registration.
A limited number of free worker/competitor tent or RV camping spots at VIR are available on a first registered, first reserved basis. Individuals will need either a General Camping Pass or Reserved RV Pass, either of which should be requested during the Runoffs registration process. As has been the case the last several years, participants may also camp within their paddock space at no additional charge. Runoffs contingency registration is again included in driver registration through MotorsportReg.com. Competitors can simply sign up online for appropriate contingencies beginning July 17 when Runoffs registration opens. Changes can be made up to September 22 through MotorsportReg.com. After that, drivers will only be able to adjust contingency selections at VIR at the Contingency Services table. The 56th running of SCCA’s Runoffs will again crown national champions in 28 separate classes over three days of racing. This will be the first time the Runoffs has visited VIR and conducted the National Championship on the 18-turn, 3.27-mile circuit found along the border of Virginia and North Carolina.
