SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (December 15, 2020)-Honda Performance Development (HPD) is pleased to announce the release of the new HPD LC1 ECU for Formula F race cars. This new Electrical Control Unit (ECU) can replace the existing unit with OEM-level reliability, improved diagnostic functionality, and expanded trouble shooting capabilities. The new ECU diagnostic application allows trouble codes to be read through a data acquisition system.

Honda Performance Development has played a major role in the revitalization of North American Formula F competition. The 1.5-liter HPD L15A7 became eligible for SCCA Formula F competition in 2010, introducing a modern racing engine to the category while strengthening Formula F’s historic position as the first step in American open-wheel racing. The L15A7 engine in FF form provides open-wheel racers with a modern, fuel-injected design offering superior reliability, and service life, as well as lower operating costs compared to the category’s traditional engines.

Included in the ECU update kit are an upgraded lambda sensor and a simple plug-and-play adapter harness to connect the new lower priced ECU to existing vehicle wiring.
