Spring is in the air!
Ok, not entirely, and not for all of us – but it’s coming. We don’t need any snowy negativity, just the promise of sunshine, warm weather, black parking lots instead of ones that are ice covered…and autocross. Lots and lots of autocross.
Luckily, March is exactly when everything ramps up on the Tire Rack SCCA® Solo® National Tour and Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo® Series calendars.
Depending on your preference – the traditional Solo National Tour or the ProSolo Series – you have five events to choose from in March. The best part? Choose correctly and it’s a week-long party with two different courses each.
The Solo National Tour features a couple of classics – and the classics are there for a reason because they’re great events at great sites. The Southeast has a stranglehold during the month, with the Tire Rack SCCA Red Hills Solo National Tour at Spence Field in Moultrie, GA, on March 13-15, and the Tire Rack SCCA Charlotte Solo National Tour at zMax Dragway on March 27-29.
If – and that’s a big IF – you must choose one or the other, don’t fret because both of these events feature classic sites and huge competition, which is always the best way to knock the rust off from the winter and get your competitive juices flowing again.
If your stylings and home base point you closer to the Pacific, then might we suggest three spectacular ProSolo events? That starts in Texas – not exactly close to the Pacific, but along the way for the ultimate early spring ProSolo road trip.
Naval Air Station Chase Field in Beeville, TX, is the spot to be on March 6-8 for the Tire Rack SCCA Beeville ProSolo – yet another one of those sites that appears each year on the schedule because it’s a can’t-miss.
Since you’re already in Texas, then head 1,400 miles west, because this is going to be a great time. You’ll get two consecutive weekends – March 20-22 and March 27-29 – in Las Vegas for the Tire Rack Vegas ProSolo Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We could make all the gambling puns, but the real answer is this: it’s a spectacular backdrop, a spectacular facility, and two straight spectacular weekends of ProSolo competition that potentially leads to enough points to consider a JCJ or Fletcher Cup run to Lincoln.
Don’t limit yourself, though – it’s time to think ahead. April brings a return to Beeville for a Solo National Tour and a ProSolo in Atlanta, so keep your calendar free because all of this is right around the corner.
