At A Glance: '20 Mid-Ohio Hoosier Super Tour

Storylines/Things to Watch:

Mid-July at Mid-Ohio -- For the past several years it was June when Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour visited Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio -- which is located about midway between Cleveland and Columbus. This year, however, the Mid-Ohio stop takes place in the middle of July. Why? Well, there was a Mid-Ohio calendar issue involving a pro racing series that was addressing a TV schedule conflict around the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics and … none of that matters anymore thanks to a pandemic. Be it June or July, Hoosier Super Tour racing at Mid-Ohio will be hot -- and SCCA is so happy to be back at the event hosted annually by Ohio Valley Region.

Back to Classic “Club” Course -- In 2019, the Hoosier Super Tour at Mid-Ohio was conducted on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn Pro Circuit that eliminated the pre-Keyhole “bus stop” chicane. That layout was necessary a year ago because Keyhole “work and grading” was underway for a now defunct ARX Americas Rallycross series taking place at Mid-Ohio the weekend following Hoosier Super Tour activities. No such obstacles exist in 2020, so competitors will again face a 2.4-mile, 15-turn, classic “Club Course” at Mid-Ohio for the Hoosier Super Tour.

Sorry, No Spectators -- Usually, SCCA welcomes spectators at Hoosier Super Tour events to watch all the tremendous competition and cars. But because of government COVID-19 concerns, spectators will NOT be allowed at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course Hoosier Super Tour event this year. Fans can, however, still follow Hoosier Super Tour action online from Mid-Ohio with live timing/scoring, video, Super Tour Radio presented by Hoosier Racing Tire and more at www.scca.com/live.

Participant COVID-19 Requirements -- SCCA members registered to compete or volunteer at Mid-Ohio’s Hoosier Super Tour MUST abide by government and venue COVID-19 mandates. First, Steam Corners Rd. Gate #3 will be the ONLY entry/exit point for the weekend. Volunteers, competitors and crew know Gate #3 as the usual registration entry point. Next, everyone MUST Schedule an appointment for contactless Onsite Registration. Those entering the facility must also complete in advance and supply the event Medical Assessment Form. NO Medical Assessment Forms will be on site, so please complete the short survey beforehand and print it out. Everyone entering Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will have their temperature taken at the security gate upon entry, each and every time. Anyone showing signs/symptoms of fever will not be able to enter the facility. Once within the venue, all participants must wear facial covering unless wearing a full-face helmet or balaclava/head sock that covers both nose and mouth. Those in attendance may temporarily remove COVID-19 protection to eat, drink or smoke. Social distancing practices of six feet and no groups of more than 10 people MUST be maintained.
