CAM Challenge '17 Schedule

SCCA CAM Challenge 2017 Schedule

TOPEKA, Kan. (December 1, 2016) – The 2017 CAM Challenge schedule has been released and is comprised of four events, running March to September.  Additionally, 2017 CAM Challenge rules are now available with subtle changes to help accommodate creativity and good competition for SCCA’s muscle car classes.  The rules can be viewed here.

The schedule is subject to change, but the planned 2017 CAM Challenge program rundown is as follows:

- March 3-5: California CAM Challenge; San Diego, California
Qualcomm Stadium

- June 16-18: Texas CAM Challenge; Mineral Wells, Texas
Mineral Wells Airport

- August 11-13: Indiana CAM Challenge; Peru, Indiana
Grissom Aeroplex

- September 2-3: CAM Invitational; Lincoln, Nebraska
Lincoln Airpark

Sunny Southern California is where the 2017 season opens with a special blended CAM Challenge/Match Tour event hosted by the San Diego Region. A modified Match Tour format will be utilized at this event, giving everyone a minimum of nine runs over the two days -- plus Challenge runs on Sunday to declare CAM Challenge winners

Next on the schedule is a stop in Mineral Wells hosted by the Texas Region, followed by a trip to Indiana for a weekend hosted by the Indy Region.  The season then wraps up in Lincoln, Nebraska as a precursor to the 2017 Tire Rack SCCA Solo Nationals.

The three CAM Challenge Classes (CAM-C, CAM-T, CAM-S) were developed to give traditional and contemporary American muscle car sedans and coupes -- with front-engine, rear-wheel-drive configurations -- and American sports cars from the 1960s and 1970s a place to compete in a controlled environment. Each car must be street legal, licensed and insured, have intact interiors and use a 200 treadwear street-legal tire.  CAM classes have been a great tool for Regions to utilize in getting new members involved with street-driven muscle cars.  Whether a Region uses one CAM class or all three, muscle cars have indeed found a home with SCCA.  Additional background can be found at the CAM Challenge webpage.
