The Tire Rack SCCA Grissom Shootout took place on Aug. 7-9, 2026, at Grissom Aeroplex in Bunker Hill, IN, a great Northern Indiana location for autocrossing, and an opportunity for classes to take center stage that may not get that focus at a traditional Solo National Tour event.
Each class received an impressive nine runs (!) during the course of the weekend prior to the Challenges even beginning, which means there was a lot of rubber left behind on the Grissom Aeroplex taxiways.
And it was a battle across the board.
Classes to Shootouts: The Big Battles
First, the Classic American Muscle turned out in droves, especially in the CAM-T classes. A whopping 24 of the classic muscle cars competed, with Jon Nwanagu leading the way in his 1999 Camaro. Nwanagu was just 0.067sec ahead of JJ Mallrich in a 1999 Z28 of his own. In fact, Chevrolet took all seven trophy spots – five with a Camaro, one with a Nova, and one with a Chevelle.
The more modern cars of CAM-Contemporary had even larger numbers. An impressive 26 CAM-C cars set times, led by Robert Gosda in a 2013 Ford Mustang. In fact, Mustangs took the top two spots, as Dave Whitworth slid in just 0.383sec behind Gosda.
Flipping to CAM-Sport, all eyes were on the Corvettes in the 20-car class. Jamie Elliott was the top dog here, with his 2002 Corvette Z06 just 0.412sec ahead of Michael Losert’s 1963 ‘Vette.
It wasn’t all CAM during this Shootout weekend, as the Club Spec Mustangs had quite the battle themselves. Almost a “baby CAM” class, Chip Manuel led the way by just 0.099sec over Chris Harvey. It was only 0.088sec further back to Kristo Kukk to complete the podium, with Randy Adkins and James Thomas in the trophies.
Xtreme Street A was quite the battle, with Jarrod Davis showing a pair of BMWs how it’s done in his Nissan 350Z. He finished 1.168sec up on Min Khant in second and Steve Mieritz in third, that duo sharing E36 BMW M3. Meanwhile, Kyle Gottschalk, driving an Eagle Talon TSi, took it to the next level in Xtreme Street B, beating Justin Peachey and his Corvette by 2.172sec
With 37 drivers, the Street Tire class was packed, but it was a solitary Subaru that put them all on notice. Nate Chester and Cody Mills shared the 2015 WRX, with Chester pulling out the win by 0.159sec over Mills. That’s not to say they dominated the class. In third, just 0.142sec back, was Karl Riggs in a Camaro, followed closely (to the tune of 0.24sec) by Raymond Dsouza in fourth.
Ladies Street was Carmen Rowlands atop a field of 18, Race Tire saw Adam Deffenbaugh up front, and Club Spec MX-5 had Conrad Adams victorious.
When the CAM Shootout rolled around, it was Elliott back on top. He conquered the challengers in the mixed CAM field to represent Sport and the Corvettes as King of Grissom.
Randy Adkins turned the tables on his fellow Spec class competitors, even when the Club Spec MX-5 field was merged with Club Spec Mustang for the Shootout. Adkins jumped back to the top as the Spec Shootout champion.

The final Shootout of 2026 is the Tire Rack SCCA Lincoln Shootout at Lincoln Airpark, taking place alongside the Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo Finale. Tier 1 registration for the Lincoln Shootout begins on Aug. 20, with Open Registration starting four days later on Aug. 24.
