McClintock Gets First Super Challenge Win, Completes Honda Sweep

Toledo, Ohio (August 1, 2007) €“ Honda drivers continued to shine in the latest round of The Tire Rack ® SCCA ProSolo in Toledo, Ohio, sweeping all of the Challenge rounds and giving Jeremiah McClintock his first Hawk Super Challenge win.

McClintock, of Commerce Township, Mich., earned his spot in the Hawk Super Challenge after finishing runner-up in the largest F125 ProSolo field in recent memory, with 17 entrants, second only to A Stock with 18. As fate would have it, it was AS winner Matthew Braun, of Northville, Mich., driving a PowerPlug Honda S2000 who McClintock outpaced in a Honda-powered Renspeed to win his first Hawk Super Challenge. Their battle dispelled the popular myth that being in a smaller class with a padded dial-in is the only way to win the Hawk Super Challenge.

After beating Andy Hollis, of Austin, Texas, to make his way to the final eliminator round of the Hawk Super Challenge, Braun had to face Hollis again in the final face-off of the Honda Tuner Challenge. This time Hollis and his Soulspeed/PowerCurveDyno Honda Civic Si got the better of Braun and took home the Honda Hot Shoe Award.

Kristin Tipple, of Galloway, Ohio, was impressive in her ProSolo debut. Piloting a Honda Civic, Tipple placed third in Ladies 2 and beat out Solo ace Cara Ness, of Medfield, Mass., in a Fun Hondas Racing Honda Civic Si, to win the Ladies Challenge.

Nathan Whipple, of Marlborough, Mass., completed the Honda Challenge sweep by winning the Bonus Challenge in an Street Touring® S Rallydecals.com/Fun Hondas Racing Honda Civic Si. Whipple beat out the Street Modified Mini Cooper S of Jason Alexander, from Grafton, Ohio, for the win.

Winner of the SM class, Andrew Lieber, of Bay City, Mich., had more to celebrate than his victory at Toledo, as it was his birthday as well. The perfect present for the Showcase Cars Inc. Mitsubishi Evo driver was his teammate, Jarrod Hoops, of Midland Mich., finishing second.

Ian Baker, of Herndon, Va., celebrated his second Street Touring S2 win in-a-row. Driving a Honda CRX, Baker topped the Honda CRX of Jason Ruggles, from Margate, Fla., by 0.359-second for the win.

F Stock had a spirited battle between the Ford Shelby Mustangs of Marcus Merideth, Sam Strano, Kevin Youngers and Michael Snyder. The Margrave Motorsports Mustang of Merideth, from Westland, Mich., finished 0.132-second ahead of Strano and his Strano Performance Parts Mustang. Showing the true sprit of Solo, Strano, from Knoxdale, Pa., would miss the Hawk Super Challenge however, giving up his spot to help a fellow competitor with a damaged vehicle get home.

The penultimate round of the 2007 Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo season is just around the corner. For the first time ever, the series heads to Miller Motorsports Park for the Salt Lake City ProSolo, August 25, where the new single-course format will be used that was so well received by newcomers at the Finger Lakes ProSolo.
