Grissom Brought the Heat and the Competition to This Solo National Tour

SCCA’s Indianapolis Region knows how to host an event, and the 180 competitors at the July 18-19, 2026, Tire Rack SCCA® Grissom Solo® National Tour can attest to that. The event was a success despite warm and humid Midwest air … plus a bit of smoke from the Canadian wildfires … and a thunderstorm that delayed Friday’s test-n-tune and Saturday’s course walks. Despite all of that, everyone got dry runs, the competition was fierce, and the camaraderie was amazing.

To cap it off, the courses were top notch. The Charles Nienhouse-designed courses were a treat that were enjoyed even by some local autocrossers who pulled themselves out of retirement to run their first National Solo event in years.

Class Competition

It’s worth starting in, at all places, Xtreme Street B, where the margin of victory was 0.008sec (yes, that’s the correct margin). Kyle Gottschalk led the first day in his Eagle Talon TSi, but Brandon Porambo’s Corvette came charging back to take the narrowest of wins.

How about a milestone in Club Spec Mustang Ladies? After 14 years of Solo National Tour events, Carmen Rowlands earned her very first Solo National Tour gold medal! She finished 3.4sec ahead of Cathy Kenny in the class.

Chad Englert (in F Street) and Dave Montgomery (in X Prepared) both had exceptional drives. Englert won his class by 2.8sec and led the Index results; Montgomery had the largest margin of victory in the field with a 12sec win and was second in the Index.

Classic American Muscle Sport got into the class battles as well. James Elliott held a narrow Saturday lead in his Corvette, but Dustin Neuville and his Z06 came ripping back on Sunday to take a 0.238sec win. CAM-T was even closer, with a pair of Camaros just 0.097sec apart at the finish. That class saw Nicholas Zelisko over Brian Harvey for the win.

Want to know how everyone else fared? The answer lies in the results.
