Record-Breaking Runs Highlighted the Time Attack Challenge Weekend at Thunderhill

Thunderhill Raceway Park is a storied West Coast racetrack that rewards determination and spectacular driving, and the May 30-31, 2026, edition of the Tire Rack SCCA® Time Attack Challenge certainly proved that.

That spectacular driving? It included five new track records and 11 class winners on a weekend that also featured Global Time Attack, Spec Racer Ford racing, and Lone Star Drift. It was a jam-packed weekend of motorsports, and the Time Attack Challenge segment certainly held its own on a weekend that oozed motorsports excellence.

Here’s who locked in the weekend’s top performances.

During Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge weekends, there are many things to celebrate.

While oftentimes the event’s Superlative Awards are for off-track activities, the Thunderhill weekend also put focus on lap times within vehicle types. Those recipients were:

  • Fastest RWD: Cody Bulkley, 2007 Chevrolet Corvette
  • Fastest FWD: James Avellina, 2023 Honda Civic

The celebrations weren’t over, either, as several other Superlative Awards were presented at the end of the weekend. Those included:

Spirit of Time Trials: Presented to Mark Shrivastava for showing up with a great attitude and finding the perfect balance between wanting to go fast and having a great time

Champion of Time Trials: James Avellina collected this award. Avellina constantly promotes Time Attack and was key to attracting new participants from outside of the SCCA group to the Thunderhill event.

Never Give Up: Jeremy Williams had a weekend that could have ended early. Saturday struggles were rough, but he stuck to it, resolved the issue, and was on track for every session on Sunday.
