SCCA-Sanctioned Weatherly Hillclimb Gets Extensive Live TV Coverage

It’s a longstanding tradition for racers to gather in Weatherly, PA, and climb a hill. Since 1961, a one-mile stretch of road – aptly named “Hill Street” – has been home to the Weatherly Hillclimb, where drivers converge to see who can make it to the top in the shortest amount of time. Featuring hairpins, sweepers, and even a section where some cars can catch air, this SCCA®-sanctioned hill climb hosted by the Weatherly Hillclimb association not only features something for competitors, but also fans of the event, with a news station broadcasting the entire event.

On Sept. 19, 2026, WFMZ-TV 69, based out of nearby Allentown, PA, and the Pocono Television Network set up a broadcast from the event, with hosts and multiple cameras covering the run up the hill. In addition, they hosted guests to speak about the event, the cars, the history of the event, and more.

Being sanctioned by the SCCA, the event utilized SCCA Time Trials rules in addition to the Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association’s supplementary regulations. The Weatherly Hillclimb was a two-day event – Saturday brought touring and timed runs, with Sunday being only timed runs.

The broadcast can be viewed on WFMZ-TV 69's website on demand using the link below, with the video broken into two parts.
