SCCA Sets Stage to Crown Time Attack National Champions in 2026

Almost nothing is better than unadulterated Time Attack competition, with the Tire Rack SCCA® Time Attack Challenge in rarified air when it comes to competitive weekends at the racetrack. That multi-event, coast-to-coast national Time Attack series boasts quality track time at some of the best circuits in the U.S., with an environment that’s as fun as it is competitive. Adrenaline flows all weekend long, all year long, with the series culminating in a trip to Pittsburgh International Race Complex (Pitt Race) for the Tire Rack SCCA Time Trials Nationals. Except, things will be different in 2026, and one of those changes means no Time Trials Nationals in the coming year – instead, drivers will head to the Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack National Championship where SCCA will crown National Champions in Time Attack competition for the first time ever.

“2026 is going to be a stellar year,” said SCCA’s Manager of National Time Trials John Hunter. “We previously announced one huge addition to the Time Attack Challenge for the coming year with SUPERFLY bringing an awesome 1990s and 2000s car show flavor to all Challenge weekends. Now, we’re thrilled to reveal that we’ll also be crowning National Champions.”

The inaugural Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack National Championship will take place at Pitt Race on Sept. 17-20, 2026.

SCCA’s “National Champion” title for winner-take-all competition is not one the Club gives lightly. For decades, only two playgrounds existed for SCCA drivers to earn that coveted title in a single event: the National Championship Runoffs® Presented by Sunoco and the Tire Rack SCCA Solo® National Championships. RallyCross, meanwhile, held “Challenges” for a handful of years before earning that National Championship title.

Now, entering its ninth year of competition, SCCA will crown National Champions for Time Attack.

“SCCA’s Time Trials Nationals has always attracted the best of the best, but it was the consistent top-level vehicle prep combined with driving excellence across the board that made us realize this had become a true championship-caliber event,” said Hunter. “Those who win their classes at the 2026 Time Attack National Championship will not only be SCCA National Champions, but they will also know it was their skill that made the event what it has become.”

Yet the 2026 Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack National Championship will be about more than those top finishers. Upholding SCCA Time Attack tradition, superlative awards will also be presented, recognizing notable performances like Top Novice, Most Improved, Spirit of Time Trials, and more.

“Between the fast cars, track time, parties, SUPERFLY show, and more, the 2026 Time Attack National Championship at Pitt Race is going to be epic,” Hunter added. “Mark your calendar now for Sept. 17-20, 2026, and we’ll see you there!”
