The 2024 Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Tour, Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo Series, and Challenge schedules are now available, and for those who thought waiting until March was too late in the year to start autocrossing, there’s fantastic news: This year’s schedule launches in February!
Though the Solo National Tour builds to the 51st Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships in Lincoln, NE, taking place Sept. 2-6, 2024, the calendar opens in Phoenix, AZ, on Feb. 23-25, and keeps rolling a week later in the eastern half of the country at Spence Field in South Georgia on March 1-3 – giving everyone a shot at washing off the winter salt and knocking off the rust early in the season.
Is the ProSolo Series lineup more your speed? Be ready to go in March to get some early points in – and when we say to be ready, we mean it. After the opening round in Beeville, TX, on March 8-10, the series goes back-to-back in Vegas in March – neither of the Vegas rounds will be on the Vegas Strip at night like F1, but security also won’t ask you to leave your seat before the action starts, either. The ProSolo Series continues through a number of traditional stops before the ProSolo Finale in Lincoln just ahead of the Solo National Championships, with the Finale taking place Aug. 30-Sept. 1.
Can’t-Miss Events
This year’s Solo National Tour and ProSolo Series are enough to keep anyone busy, but there are a few stops that need highlighting. First up, the double-header in Vegas.
Back-to-back events are nothing new to National Solo competition, but back-to-back ProSolos at the same location – now that’s special. March 15-17 and March 22-24 will see competitors head to Sin City for a unique occurrence as these two stops on the ProSolo Series will challenge stamina as much as driving abilities. Will anybody be able to pull off repeat wins at these two events? Can someone clinch back-to-back Super or Ladies Challenge victories? Will someone take the week off from work and live it up on the Strip between events?
Need to stash your truck and trailer somewhere between the Las Vegas events? Las Vegas Motor Speedway will make that happen, although it’ll be on a first come, first served basis – more info on that will be available during registration.
In Las Vegas, everything’s a gamble, so make the most of this pair of events.
Another fun series of back-to-back stops include the June 7-9 ProSolo at Brunswick Executive Airport in Brunswick, ME, followed by the June 14-16 Solo National Tour at the same location. Located just two hours north of Boston, Brunswick is a charming small Maine town with a population just north of 21,000. Considering the May stopovers in Lincoln are dubbed the Spring Nationals and July at Bristol has become the Summer Nationals, perhaps the Brunswick events could become the New England Nationals.
And finally, the July 12-14 and July 19-21 Solo National Tour and ProSolo weekends at Packwood will be a special one, with the community coming together after a sorrowful event in 2023.
And More…
For American thunder drivers looking for the CAM Challenge, those events will likely soon live under a different name after the addition of some other exciting classes to the event. Regardless, you're looking for the Challenge portion of the calendar, with that preliminary schedule including events at St. Louis on May 3-5, and at Grissom Aeroplex on May 31-June 2.
“We’re thrilled we’ve been able to put together a complete schedule that keeps our favorite venues, including some that are recent additions to the National Solo event calendar,” SCCA Director of Solo Rick Myers said. “It’s no secret that sites can be subject to forces out of our control, so it’s a testament to our Regions and the care our competitors take that we see so many of the same venues year after year. Add it all up – and include an earlier start for the West Coast – and we’re ready to get the 2024 Tire Rack Solo National Tour season underway.”
