Who Will Win the Runoffs? Friday Races

We’re days away from the 60th SCCA® National Championship Runoffs® kicking off at VIRginia International Raceway, and the energy is all but palpable. Hundreds of racers are on the road to Alton, VA, as you read this, many with high hopes of logging the best Runoffs finish of their racing career during the Sept. 23-Oct. 1, 2023, event. For some, that means cracking the top 10; for others, their sights are set on finally making the top six and earning the elusive impound card. But a number of racers have set their target on the top three – and while they might be hesitant to admit it, we know they’re actually aiming for Runoffs gold.

Racing being racing, only one can stand atop their class podium on Hagerty Race Days to spray the sparkling wine from Mazza Vineyards – but who will it be? In the past, we’ve singled out handfuls of drivers to let you vote on who will be the best at that year’s National Championship event; this year, we’re letting loose the floodgates (OK, probably a bad choice of words after last year’s Runoffs was pummeled by Hurricane Ian), allowing you to pick from every driver on the entry list – at least, every driver as of the day we compiled the list.

Today, we’ll look at the first day of Runoffs races that take place on Friday, Sept. 29, which means American Sedan, F Production, Formula Enterprises 2, GT-2, Spec Miata, GT-3, Touring 4, Prototype 2, and Prototype 1.

The event schedule can be found here, and come race days, you can watch the action live for free online at SCCA’s Facebook page and YouTube channel, with live timing found here. But right now, you tell us:

Who Will Win…
