The Tire Rack Solo National Tour Series is officially getting underway. The 10-event schedule kicks off March 11, 2022, at South Georgia Motorsports Park. Dubbed The Road to Lincoln, the event series features the best sites, best courses, and the best competition as participants prepare for the ultimate test — Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships in Lincoln, NE.
New for 2022, the series will feature a class points challenge where drivers compete for points at each stop. Drivers will score their best three Tour finishes in class towards earning the title of Tour Class Champion (get full details of the series points). Remember, to help balance the events for the West Coast drivers, the Packwood National Tour will count for double points, counting both the Saturday standings and the overall results.
Class competition is already taking shape as the season opener entries pour in. The Red Hills National Tour is near capacity as past Solo Nationals Champions and newcomers alike look to make a run at making history in 2022. Several 2021 Nationals Champions are charging out of the gate, including Charles Krampert in AS, Jennifer Bedell in SSCL, Ginette Jordan in FSPL, Eric Anderson in SSM, Tommy Pulliam in CP, Tracy Lewis in CPL, and Wes Hughson in FP. We’re also seeing a couple of names showing up in classes that we’re not used to seeing them in — we’re looking at you, Greg Hahn in CS, Mike King in SSC, and Shawn Lambert in CAMC. We’re also seeing the results of the off-season car shuffle with Jordan Towns heading to CS and Bill Bostic switching to SSC. Chris Harp is getting back in the saddle with STX, and David and Laura Marcus are taking their Supra to the new SST class.
Also new for this year, is a revised Starting Line Drivers Edge Experience. The program is being redesigned with the goal of helping those new to the two-day National Tour format navigate the weekend, and will feature some of the top drivers in the country providing guidance. As part of updating Drivers Edge, we are welcoming back a long-standing relationship with Evolution Performance Driving School (Evo). Evo will be offering their Evo Advantage Driving School at each National Tour stop. The driving schools will be a scaled-down version of the Evolution Phase 1 School. Each student will be paired with a national-caliber instructor, and receive a minimum of 12 runs on the practice course to hone their skills before taking to competition runs.
