In the Media: South Bend Region & Starting Line

SCCA’s South Bend Region made the local news recently when WNDU-TV came out to Tire Rack’s headquarters in South Bend, Indiana, for a look at a Starting Line performance driving school. These events, hosted by SCCA regions throughout the country, are a partnership between the Club and Tire Rack to give automotive enthusiasts a professional, all-inclusive entry into the world of performance driving. In addition to a full day of instruction, participants receive an SCCA membership, entries for future events, as well as subscriptions to SportsCar and Grassroots Motorsports Magazines.

Sure, Tire Rack Starting Line schools will probably make you a better autocrosser. But the added bonus is they also make people better drivers overall -- on and off the track. So, whether you’re interested in getting into motorsports or not, Starting Line schools just make good sense for drivers of all ages.

“That’s really the most rewarding part is taking someone who’s scared to, you know, drive on a highway and let them do this in a closed environment,” said Nick Thompson, event manager at the South Bend school. “I think everyone should have to do one at some point in their life to be a more confident driver.”
