2017 Tire Rack Toledo ProSolo: Tune-In

We’re off to Toledo this weekend! Here’s what this grippy concrete weekend has in store:

A 21 person A Street class is featuring the New Jersey ProSolo winner Mark Daddio, along with Blytheville and Fort Myers winner Laurence Casey. With lots of other top tier drivers, AS will certainly be one to watch.

CS hosts the likely favorite father/son duo of Brian and Julian Garfield, but Mark Shrivastava has shown pace right with them at several local events, so he’ll be there to keep them honest.

With Sam Strano leaving the door a little bit farther open than usual, SSR should be a great battle between Grant Reeve, Matthew Braun, and Jason Burns. Toledo courses are usually open enough that perhaps Josh Luster won’t need cones to not count to pull off a win!

STS marks the return of Ian Baker to Solo competition this year, with Todd Kunze, Mike Snyder, and Lincoln Super Challenge winner Mark McKnight all in it with a shot. I’d venture to say between the drivers registered and the typical Toledo course layout, it’ll likely be a CRX at the top.

Kyle Herbst is the favorite so far in STX, showing excellent pace in Lincoln after facing poor conditions and luck in Pittsburgh, and teething troubles on concrete up until the last day of Spring Nationals. He’ll face opposition from Alex Piehl and Marcus Pyne, both having picked up event wins of their own this year. Also, prepare your air horns as John Li is making an appearance too. Bonus strategy tip: Try to run on course immediately following John, if a rerun is your goal. And don’t red light!

Will the Kaomaro continue its success at National events so far? Originally just an excuse for Oscar the Grouch finding it impossible to shift within the confines of his trash can, Danny took his Camaro to the top qualifier spot in New Jersey in CAM. He’ll look to do battle with Eric Brown up at the top.

L1 looks to be some end of a repeat of New Jersey, with Shelly Monfort, Tamra Hunt, and Learic Cramer all entered. Last year’s Driver of the Year Cindy Duncan will also be making an appearance in Jeff Cox’  ESP GT500.

L2, seemingly lucking out by avoiding the dastardly Jordan Towns WRX, looks like it’ll be a battle between the Cashmore M3 and Chris Peterson in the MR2. Laura Harbour is also very capable of winning in her ’06 Si.

Everyone keep doing their anti-rain dance, and hope for some awesome weather and a great time this weekend in Toledo!
