2017 Tire Rack Dixie Championship Tour: 5toGo

Register Here | Entry List

Dixie will be here soon. For some, not soon enough. Dixie returns as the first stop on the 2017 Tire Rack Championship Tour, and will be the first SCCA® National Solo® event for many participants. Whether you have redemption on your mind or a continuation of 2016 momentum, most in the Southeast (and beyond) are looking forward to the weekend at South Georgia Motorsports Park.

So, if you’re still on the fence, I’m about to tell you why you should enter NOW! Welcome to the 2017 season! There are 189 days between the 2016 Tire Rack Solo Nationals Presented by Garmin VIRB and the 2017 Tire Rack Dixie Championship Tour. That’s both 189 days to make changes and 189 days to think back to 2016 and forward to 2017. Welcome to the new season! I hope it’s a good one!

First event of the season also means reconnecting with friends. The welcome party is a guaranteed good time. I’ve also been guaranteed an appearance by Tim White’s Trasharita so be prepared for a margarita experience only possible at an autocross!

It’s been a mild winter for most areas (I hope this isn’t a jinx,) but Dixie is usually blessed with good weather. Highs in the mid-70s are common. I just hope the inch of rain that is currently expected on Sunday misses us. Better bring your rain tires just in case.

We all know that design options are limited at Dixie, but Robert Lewis is sure to give us a great course to get back in the swing of things. Be prepared for lots of transitions!

Finally, I heard from a reliable source that John Thomas is trying to make it to Dixie this year. For those who have seen him drive, it’s a spectacle to behold. If he makes it, expect a crowd in the viewing area.

And check out some video of last year's Tour... two great courses and some awesome noises for your listening pleasure...
