Contingency Awards for 2016 Tire Rack Solo Nationals

TOPEKA, Kan. (June 14, 2016) – Registration for the 2016 Tire Rack Solo Nationals, presented by Garmin VIRB, will open online Wednesday, June 15 at 3pm Central Time with the fee for this year’s event being $175 per entrant. That means the annual September pilgrimage to Lincoln Airpark in Lincoln, Nebraska is nearing. That also means it’s time to start thinking about registering for Tire Rack Solo Nationals contingency programs.

Many contingency opportunities require pre-registration. Details and instructions to register for each of these programs are available at the SCCA Contingency webpage. It is the responsibility of each competitor to make sure they are in compliance with each program for which they would like to enroll.

Hawk Performance, the Official Brake Products of SCCA, will offer product certificates this year to podium finishers. The schedule breaks down to the winner earning a $125 certificate, second a $75 certificate and third able to claim a $50 certificate.

Mobil 1, the Official Motor Oil of SCCA, is in the mix this year with $100 cash and a $50 product certificate for champions, and a $50 product certificate for second-place finishers. Plus, all eligible class winners will be entered into a random drawing to win one of three Mobil 1 10x10 E-Z Up instant shelters.

Honda Performance Development is again involved this year where winners in multiple Classes driving Honda/Acura vehicles can earn $500 for a win, with $300 going to second and $100 for third. Formula Junior A and Formula Junior C drivers can earn $30 in HPD Bucks for first, $20 in HPD Bucks for second and $10 in HPD Bucks for finishing third. Additionally, Solo Triad winners earn $500 in HPD Bucks.

Drivers using Bridgestone rubber on all four corners can earn $500 for a class win, while the remaining two podium positions earn $300 and $100 each. Falken Tire is also offering cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $300 to podium finishers, in that order, running on Falken products. And Hankook Tire makes $1,000 cash available to winners, as well as $700 for those finishing second and $500 for third. Plus $1,000 to Solo Triad winners.

BFGoodrich Tires in 2016 offers up four free tires for Class winners, two free tires for second-place finishers and one tire for third. For those using Toyo Proxes R1R tires, Toyo Tires will give a cash award of $1,000 to winners, $750 for second and $500 for the final podium position. There is also $1,000 available to Solo Triad winners.

Hoosier Racing Tire is aboard this year and awarding drivers using their product with four free tires for a win and two free tires for finishing second. Kumho Tires is also helping those attending the Solo Nationals who use Kumho rubber with four tires for winners, two for second and one for third. Those awards are doubled for racers competing in any Street or Street Touring category. And Nexen Tire USA has joined the fray with $1,000 for a win, $800 for second and $500 for third.

For its drivers, Subaru of America comes to the table with $1,000 for winners, $750 for second and $500 for third. Mazda comes to Lincoln this year with $1,000 for a win, $600 for second, $300 for third and $1,200 for Solo Triad victors. For those competing in a 2002 or newer MINI vehicle with original MINI powertrain, MINI USA offers a cash prize of $1,000 for a win, $500 for second and $250 for third.

Nissan racers using a GT-R, 370Z, current Sentra, Versa sedan or Note edition can receive from Nissan North America $1,000 for a win, $500 for second and $250 for third. Those driving non-current Nissan models will receive $500 for a win. Meanwhile, Scion Racing and Toyota/TRD have streamlined contingency programs with $1,000 simply going to winners running a Scion engine and body or Toyota engine and body.
