Contingency Dollars Plentiful at ProSolo and Solo National Championships

TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 6, 2007) €“ In addition to the quest to become the next Champion, Soloists will be on a mad dash for contingency cash at this year€™s Tire Rack ® SCCA Solo National Championships and ProSolo National Championship at Heartland Park Topeka. Nearly $1 million in cash and prizes will be up for grabs.

Auto manufacturers and tire makers dominate the two contingency menus. With cars competing in 23 ProSolo classes and 54 Solo National classes, Mazda leads the way for auto makers, posting $139,900 total for the two events. This includes $1,000 for a class win at either Championship event and an additional $1500 for a Hawk Super Challenge or Ladies Challenge win at the ProSolo National Championship. Toyota will also be offering $1,000 for a class win at either event. Solo National Champions driving a Volkswagen will have $1,000 coming their way as well, but will need to collect a Challenge win at the ProSolo National Championship to see the same cash. Honda, Ford, Nissan and Subaru are also offering similar programs paying anywhere from $500 to $1,000 for a class or Challenge win.

In addition to its contingency program, Honda has also increased its Tuner Challenge prize fund, now issuing $750 for a victory.

Kumho and Hankook€™s offerings are both in the six digit mark. The two tire manufacturers each offer $800 for a class win at Solo Nationals and a cool $1,000 for a ProSolo class or Challenge win, though Hankook€™s Challenge payout applies to the Hawk Super Challenge and Ladies Challenge only. Yokohama and Bridgestone will each be writing checks as well. Hoosier is also posting big numbers, but will be handing out tires, not cash. Third in class nabs you one tire, second place receives a pair, while a class or Challenge victory will snag you a set of Hoosier tires.

Grassroots Motorsports magazine has stepped up to the plate, paying $100 to all 2007 Solo National Champions eligible for the program. Race Technology is a first-time Solo contingency poster, issuing product certificates to first, second and third-place finishers at the Solo National Championships. Hawk Performance will also be offering product certificates to ProSolo class winners and of course, the Hawk Super Challenge winner.

The Solo National Championships also mark the last chance Soloists have to capture the Pace Hot Pursuit Award. The first eligible competitor with the least variance in run times on either course at Heartland Park Topeka, will automatically be entered to win a Pace Pursuit® trailer valued at $14,000. The drawing, which includes all Pace Hot Pursuit Award winners from this year€™s Solo National Tour and SCCA National Championship Runoffs Presented by AT&T, will take place at Heartland Park during the Runoffs.

The Solo Championship season at Heartland Park Topeka kicks off September 21 €“ 22, with the Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo National Championship, followed by the Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships, September 25 €“ 28.
