LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept. 5, 2009) €“ The anticipation building to the 2009 Tire Rack® ProSolo Finale was dragged out just a little longer this morning in Lincoln, Neb., as the event got off to a late start, courtesy of fog at the Lincoln Airpark. Once things got rolling, class point leaders worked their way to the top of the time sheets with few surprises. Unable to see across either course, SCCA officials were forced to delay the start of the ProSolo Finale in its debut at Lincoln Airpark. After nearly an hour of waiting, visibility returned and the Christmas tree released its first set of drivers at 10 a.m. (CDT). Numerous classes were tied at the top of the point standings coming into the ProSolo Finale and after day one, it appears most are no closer to determining a winner. In Super Stock, Patrick Salerno, of New Milford, Conn., and Matthew Braun, of Northville, Mich., are tied for the SS class point lead. At the end of Saturday€™s runs, Salerno, driving an Evolution Lotus Elise, has only 0.445-second on Braun, who pilots the Power Plug Lotus Elise. The same story is playing out in A Stock, where Jeff Cashmore, of New Berlin, Wis., in a Chevrolet Corvette, leads fellow Corvette driver Scott McHaugh, of Santa Clarita, Calif., by just 0.130-second. Both Cashmore and McHaugh have 40 points apiece atop the AS point standings. The Ladies Class 2 point leaders, Annie Bauer, of Renton, Wash., and Christine Berry, of Alta Loma, Calif., are setting the stage for a photo finish. The two are currently tied for the LC2 point lead, while Bauer and her PMWLTD.com/SignEdge.com BMW 2002 leads Berry, who drives the Hoosier/ChaseCam/BerryFamilyRacing Mitsubishi Evolution, by a slim 0.050-second. In Street Touring® Ultra, Corey Ridgick, of Allentown, Pa., holds a tenuous lead over Max Hayter, of Trabuco Canyon, Calif. Driving the Bridgestone Mitsubishi Evo, Ridgick has pulled out 0.196-second on Hayter and his ChaseCam/Fordahl Motorsports/Surgeline Subaru WRX. Ridgick leads Hayter in the STU points. Despite three red lights on day one, Bryan Heitkotter, of Fresno, Calif., could be on his way to a B Stock ProSolo Championship. Driving the Team H&H Mazda RX-8, Heitkotter is currently tied with Carter Thompson, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., for the BS point lead. Heitkotter, however, has already pulled out 1.736 seconds on the KONI/High Pressure Performance Mazda RX-8 of Thompson. Similarly, Sam Strano, of Knoxdale, Pa., will be tough to catch in F Stock. The driver of the Strano Performance Parts/Capital Quest Mtg. Ford Shelby Mustang holds a 1.197-second lead over Kevin Youngers, of Greely, Colo., and his Youngers Insights Ford Mustang. Strano arrived at the ProSolo Finale tied with Stacey Molleker, of Granite Falls, Wash., for the FS point lead. Molleker is third after day one. H Stock will be one to watch Sunday, as the top three are separated by 0.100-second. Point leader Ron Williams, of Topeka, Kan., is third in his MINI USA/Hoosier MINI Cooper. Williams is chasing the MINIUSA.com/Helix Mini MINI Cooper of Jeff Jacobs, from Philadelphia, Pa., who is third, and the On a Dime Racing MINI Cooper of Joseph Austin, from Montgomery, N.Y., who leads Jacobs by 0.068-second. Though Jason Frank, of Racine, Wis., and Ken Montonishi, of Orange, Calif., are tied for the Street Touring point lead, neither are found at the top of the ST times on Saturday. Instead, it€™s Tim Smith, of Tucker, Ga., in his Toyo/Moton/RPG/NABC Honda Civic Si with a 0.569-second lead over Bill Bounds, of Atlanta, Ga., also in a Honda Civic Si. Motonishi is currently third, followed by Frank. Jay Storm, of Willoughby, Ohio, is in the midst of his best F Street Prepared drive of the season in a Subaru Impreza, even if it does include two red lights and a DNF. After day one, Storm leads Iain Mannix, of Morrison, Colo., and his Signedge.com/PMWLTD.com BMW 2002 by a slim 0.089-second. Class point leaders Jinx Jordan, of Terrell, N.C., and Lorin Mueller, of Newark, Ga., are third and fourth, respectively. The Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo Finale will continue tomorrow at Lincoln Airpark.
