With two qualifying days down, that means Thursday is Tire Rack Pole Day! Here is the news you need to know…

Hurricane Ian Update from the Race Director

There hasn’t been a significant change regarding the impact of Hurricane Ian on the Runoffs since yesterday’s update. Dark Sky projections now show the rain arriving Friday afternoon and continuing through the weekend, totaling 2-3 inches by Sunday evening.

For the moment we are not planning any aggressive reorganization of the schedule. Rest assured, that we have a constant eye on the situation as it evolves.

Last Call for the Chassis Dyno – Leaves Thursday

The Torque Lab Chassis Dyno will leave at Noon on Thursday. This DynoJet 224x is 2000hp capable and will be used as the Official Certifying dyno for the Runoffs. It can service both FWD and RWD vehicles. Call Kirk at (317) 268-8235 or email info@torquelab.net.

Book online today using this link (https://calendly.com/torque-lab/2022-scca-runoffs?month=2022-09). The dyno is located in the south part of the grass paddock on Varacins.

Paddock

On Thursday, there will be a security guard at the roundabout. Only vehicles with a red or blue event parking pass will be permitted past the roundabout into the main/paved paddock. Stickers need to be either stuck to the outside of the windshield or taped to the inside, where the name and assignment are visible. Vehicles without an appropriate pass or parked in an unauthorized place are subject to being towed. We don’t want to have to do this—it stinks for everyone! So please, help us out by following the paddock parking rules!

Notes from the Race Director

Much of what we’re seeing come to the Race Director are violations of things addressed in the driver’s meeting video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2xgnG8Zcqc), the driver’s meeting letter (https://www.scca.com/downloads/64109-22-runoffs-driver-meeting-letter-final) and the supps (https://www.scca.com/downloads/62852-2022-runoffs-supps-web). Please review all of these if you have not already done so!

Party Time!

TireRack.com Pole Position Awards

Approximately 30 minutes after the last checkered flag on Thursday, we will have the TireRack.com Pole Position Award Ceremony in victory circle. We would like to have all polesitters in attendance, and everyone is welcome to celebrate the first major awards of the 2022 Runoffs!

All-Participant Party and Worker of the Year Awards Presented by Mazda

Beginning at 7 p.m., everyone is invited to join us at the Gallery (the big building/tent in the grass paddock) for the all-participant party, complete with cold beverages, pulled pork, barbecued chicken, mac and cheese and more!

Continuing on with our major-award Thursday theme will be the 2022 SCCA Worker of the Year presentation, presented by Mazda. Join us in celebrating some of our best volunteer workers that make SCCA Road Racing happen!
