Member Guidance: Eligible Street Tires for Solo
The primary tire rules are treadwear (and width for Street Touring). For the following categories the lowest Treadwear you can have is 200, and the width is free (except for Street Touring). Any tire with a treadwear rating of less than 200 (I.E. Hoosier A7, Kumho V710, etc) bumps you into Street Prepared, Street Modified or Prepared.
The following is a list of eligible and non-eligible tires for SCCA Solo classes that allow 200 treadwear rating or higher as of 4/8/21. This list is not 100% complete instead only focuses on the most popular tire models. This list is intended to provide helpful guidance to the members, but does not replace the ruleset governing each category.
Tire eligibility for Street and Street Touring are determined based on Solo Rules 13.3.
Tire eligibility for CAM and XS are determined based on the category rulesets listed on the SCCA Autocross Rules page.
1 - These tires are no longer being produced but the remaining stock is still available for purchase. They are being monitored and may be deemed ineligible in the future due to lack of availability.
2 - Excludes the 275/35/ZR18, 295/35/ZR18, and 295/40/ZR18 that are available in a 140 treadwear rating.
3 - Currently this tire does not have enough available tire sizes to be eligible for Street or Street Touring. If more become available, it could be deemed eligible for those categories.
4 - The SEB is closely monitoring the performance of this new tire. The SEB believes the membership is best served by having tire choices from multiple manufacturers. If a new tire demonstrates that it redefines the performance envelope, effectively reducing the choices available to members, the SEB would evaluate the immediate listing of that tire as ineligible for competion.
5 - Only a few tire sizes meet the 200 treadwear rating but not enough to be deemed allowed.
