Wrapping up … or heating up? Depending on your view of the Tire Rack SCCA® National Solo® program, it’s up for you to decide. Either way, we can tell you this: Just because it’s about to be August, it doesn’t mean anything is over. SCCA’s National Solo events in August are few but mighty – and it’s mighty important that you get out there and have #funwithcars.
First things first, it’s the Tire Rack SCCA Shootout at Grissom Aeroplex in Bunker Hill, IN. You know the Grissom Aeroplex from years of strong Solo National Tour events, and that site is the same one being utilized on Aug. 7-9, 2026, for the Tire Rack SCCA Grissom Shootout.
If you’re not familiar with the Shootout format, you’ll catch on quickly. Saturday is all about the class competition. You'll get three runs in the morning and another three in the afternoon; your best overall time of the day is what you'll build on going into day two. Sunday comes down to the last few morning runs. Use that to secure your finishing position in class and possibly your spot in a Challenge.
Once class competition wraps, it's on to the heart-pounding Challenge. We're looking for the best of the mild (Spec), the wild (CAM and XS), and the compiled (Index classes).

And don’t feel like a Shootout event is for a select few – anyone with a car eligible for Solo National Tours can come!
