Memorial Day Decimal Dustups During the Lincoln Solo Nat Tour Sets Stage for a Sizzling Summer

Of course, a Tire Rack SCCA® Lincoln Solo® National Tour held May 24-25, 2026, during the Memorial Day weekend doesn’t directly correlate to what will happen at the Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships this September, but gathering 352 autocrossers undeniably gives everyone a benchmark for where they stand against the competition at this point in the season.

Turns out, it’s shaping up to be quite the ride as the season marches on. Fantastic weather and the fantastic home made the Memorial Day weekend, complete with two days of Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo competition followed by two days of a Solo National Tour all hosted by Nebraska Region, made for an event that was, well, fantastic.

What else was fantastic were the courses. The West Course was designed by Thenmozhi Elayaperumal, with Riley Heaton heading up the East Course. Both drivers created autocross courses that challenged even the best on site.

And on those courses were battles galore.

Battles Galore

Matt McCabe grabbed the early C Street lead and watched as Rick Cone came roaring back on Monday. The Miata battle finished with McCabe up 0.133sec for the class victory. That margin was apparently popular in the Street category – Mike Leeder and his Chevrolet Camaro finished 0.133sec ahead of Sam Strano’s Ford Mustang in F Street for the victory, as well.

But those Street categories had nothing on Solo Spec Coupe. Heath Helmick took a Sunday lead and was just quick enough on Monday to stay ahead of David Hedderick by a scant 0.054sec in total.

It was less than a tenth in Super Street Touring, too. Charles Krampert led the way there in his Chevrolet Corvette, just 0.059sec ahead of Justin Neal’s Nissan GT-R. But that was a country mile compared to A Street Touring – Will Teller was 0.004sec (yes, four thousandths of a second) ahead of Vivek Goel after runs were complete. E Street Touring (the NA generation Miatas, among others) was just as tight. Mason Herrick and David Whitener were 0.006sec separated on Monday afternoon, with Herrick in front.

It wasn’t just the usual suspects battling to extended decimal places. Over in C Prepared, Chris Miller and his 1979 Ford Mustang with a turbo was 0.276sec quicker than Skyler Sisson’s 1965 Mustang, exemplifying the fun of meeting in Lincoln to start the summer months.

Jeff Kiesel continues to win Solo National Tour events in E Modified, but his KFR Turbo Sprite was just 0.530sec ahead of Jason Minehart’s Stalker AXR. Xtreme Street B ultimately went to Blayne Rios, but 0.345sec would have dropped him all the way back to third. Nick Pasternack was just 0.080sec behind the class winner, with Keegan Shepard another 0.265sec back. Rios and Pasternack were each in Miatas, with Shepard driving a Lotus Exige.

The Club Spec classes are fire, too. Lucas Reller scored victory in an 11-deep Club Spec MX-5 by just 0.035sec over Abdul Huuda. Andrew Canak was best in a 13-driver Club Spec Mustang. Five more Club Spec Mustang entries were in the Ladies class, where Cindy Duncan led the way.

Phew!

Getting Even Hotter

The summer months are going to be even hotter, all across the country – from an autocross perspective.

In June alone, the Tire Rack Crows Landing Solo National Tour (June 12-14 in Crows Landing, CA) and the Brunswick Solo National Tour (part of the June 19-21 doubleheader with a ProSolo in Brunswick, ME) cover both coasts.

Either of those are great preps for the next visit to Lincoln in September – but even if you can’t make those, there are still more opportunities for #funwithcars before the 2026 Solo Nationals hits Lincoln.
