There’s no guarantee that success at the Tire Rack SCCA® Time Attack Challenge at Eagles Canyon Raceway, taking place May 2-3, 2026, will lead to an SCCA National Championship later in the year, but let’s be honest, it can’t hurt to lay down some competitive laps at the track this spring before heading there in October for the inaugural winner-take-all title bout.
Since that’s the case, it’s also true that the hunt for the championship-winning laps begins in May with the roughly 70 drivers who are already on the entry list – a list that’s dominated by Texans early (although that’s bound to change, because there’s no way the rest of the country is going to hand a free pass to the Texas contingent, right?).
But there’s a reason the Texans are going: They know that Eagles Canyon is a fantastic facility that underwent a significant facelift in 2019. The track is 2.7-miles of roller coaster of elevation changes and a wild 2,200 foot long back straight for speed. Did the improvements make it more fun or did the track become more challenging? Turns out, it’s both!
Check In to Check it Out
Check-in for the May 2-3 event is on Friday evening, May 1, which allows everyone to get the lay of the land, unload, and maybe do some bench racing with fellow competitors who are camping on site.
Don’t stay up too late, though, because things get hot on Saturday morning when each driver receives a practice session and three timed sessions.
Sessions that look a little something like this flier of a Personal Best lap put down by Nolan Eberl in his Tuner 4 Subaru BRZ during the 2025 Time Attack Challenge at Eagles Canyon:
Nice twists and turns in that video, right? Well, get ready for another twist, because on Sunday, each driver gets three sessions going the opposite way, because the Eagles Canyon event runs the course clockwise on Saturday and counterclockwise on Sunday (with Track Night in America Driven® by Tire Rack participants joining the fun with some non-timed sessions on Sunday).
An Event All Its Own
We’ll admit, we began this article by teasing a National Championship, but don’t get too caught up in that. This May 2-3 event is a showdown all its own, whether the goal is a class win or a Personal Best.
Speaking of Personal Bests – did you know all Time Attack Challenge lap times are listed on the website right here? That includes your class target at Eagles Canyon – as well as every track and driver that has ever been a part of the Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge.
