Beeville Stormed into the 2026 ProSolo Season with a Showstopper

SCCA's Lone Star Region, Beeville, and Naval Air Station Chase Field were fantastic hosts for the opener of the 2026 Tire Rack SCCA® ProSolo® Series during the March 6-8, 2026, weekend, even if mother nature had other plans for the Lone Star State event.

Though rain threatened Saturday’s runs, the wet stuff missed the site and each competitor got eight runs during the opening day of competition.

That first day revealed a lot on the Todd Roberts-designed courses. Drivers raved about the layout, summed up by Vivek Goel who declared them, “Fun to drive but hard to nail.”

Rain began to fall just as Sunday’s Heat 1 got the green flag – which was fine, because autocrossing in the rain often brings the most fun. Rain is one thing, but lightning is another, and it was the lightning storm that wiped out the remainder of the day, including the Challenges. JCJ and Fletcher Cup points will be awarded based on qualifying order from Sunday’s runs, giving Daniel McCelvey and Laura Marcus the early leads in the season-long title hunt.

Class Battles

The impending weather put a touch of urgency into each run on Saturday, which meant the action was hot and heavy, and not only from autocross veterans. First-time ProSolo participation reached double digits, and the king of the rookies became Blake Crawford.

Crawford and his Miata took the top spot in C Street, claiming a 0.678sec win over Ho Cheung. The run was more impressive in the scope of the Challenge qualifying, where he was 12th overall from the event.

While the Solo Spec Coupe win went to Solo® veteran David Hedderick, the rookie crown went to Samuel Otis who finished third. Otis competed in the event on a learner’s permit and was just two seconds back of Hedderick.

Meanwhile, battles were happening up and down the classes. Corey Phillips and Vivek Goel finished just 0.061sec apart in A Street Touring in their respective Mazda MX-5s, with Phillips taking the title.

In the Ladies classes, Crissy Hedderick and her SSC-prepared Scion FR-S topped Nicole Wong and her CAM-C Camaro in Ladies Class 1. Ladies Class 2 went to Laura Marcus and her SST Porsche Cayman GTS, while Kim Whitener took Class 3 in an E Street Touring Miata.

Speaking of Crissy Hedderick, courtesy of SCCA Women on Track, Hedderick coached Ladies Class 3 driver Phuong Anh Tran.

All the on-course action can be found in the class results.
