From the President: It’s Time to Level Up the 2026 Season

(This article, from SCCA® President and CEO Mike Cobb, appears quarterly on SCCA.com.)

I covered this in my last column as well as during the 2026 SCCA® National Convention, but I’ll say it again: 2025 was a wild ride. From Regional events all the way to the National Championships, SCCA hosted amazing events, but participation in certain categories waned as the year progressed. We caught sight of the economic trend early, yet while the SCCA National Office and event organizers tightened belts to keep budgets in check, maintaining a high membership experience was always top priority – and based on our post-event “Likely to Recommend” surveys, I humbly submit that we accomplished that goal. Now, with the 2026 season upon us, the plan is unwavering – so come on out and join the fun!

SCCA’s National event season kicked off with no time to waste, with the first U.S. Majors Tour® road race of the season taking the green flag at Homestead Miami Speedway on Jan. 2-4. The following weekend, there was another Majors, this one at Sebring International Raceway. That was followed by yet another Majors at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, TX.

Earlier, I made reference to the virtual SCCA National Convention that took place Jan. 15-23 (all of those sessions are now available on-demand via the Member Account Portal). The theme of the Convention was “Level Up!” – and leveling up is exactly what we plan to do all year long.

February saw the Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA Super Tour hit the track and the Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack Challenge begin its season. In March, it’s National Solo’s turn, with three Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo Series events and a pair of Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Tours. March is also the month that Track Night in America® Driven by Tire Rack really starts humming.

Come May, everything’s in full swing, including National RoadRallies and RallyCross Divisional Challenges.

May might seem like a long way off, but it’s truly around the corner – as are all of the National Championship events that run September through October. Don’t blink, because the Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships, National Championship Runoffs®, RallyCross National Championship, and the inaugural Tire Rack SCCA Time Attack National Championship (which makes its debut mid-October at Eagles Canyon Raceway) will be here before you know it.

None of this works, though, without you.

Whether you’re driving or volunteering (level up by doing both in the same weekend!), come on out to events and have #funwithcars with us. While you’re at it, level up a friend’s life by inviting someone new! Think about it – how did you first hear about the Club? Statistics say it was from a friend. So, be that friend for someone else and invite them out for a good time with you and your SCCA family.

If 2026 picks up where 2025 left off, this year will be a wild ride, but together we can level up the entire Club, and have fun along the way.
